Car description |
---|
This beautiful 1950 Mercury Coupe has been to SEMA twice. Both SEMA appearances showed the car in Bare Metal during the fabrication stages of the build. If you had the chance to view this car before paint then you know how much prep work was done to get it to look like it does. Everything about this car has been thought out, designed and then fabricated.
Exterior touches include: Redesigned stock front grill; filled and peaked front and rear bumpers; hydro dipped grill, front and rear bumpers and taillight bezels to match the HRE wheels; modified front splash panel for recessed front bumper; recessed rear pan to fit rear bumper; removed front parking lights; HID headlights with custom ‘thread on’ bezels made by Greening Auto Co. to resemble ‘frenched’ headlights; custom taillight bezels by Greening Auto Co. with LED lights; nosed hood, decked trunk, shaved door handles with hidden electronic door kickers; shaved trim and belt moldings; retained rain gutters; 3-inch roof chop with slanted B-pillars; dropped and leaned backlight with hand formed window surround and sail panels; custom cut and 20% tinted glass all around, tint by Eric at GMP Cars.
Interior touches include: tubbed rear wheel wells to fit the massive HRE wheels; Redesigned front and rear seats to accommodate tubbed wheel wells, Flaming River steering column; Momo steering wheel; Dakota Digital gauges to fit the stock dashboard; Completely redesigned floor pan for air ride suspension, pop out center console with controls for Air ride and stereo system and Vintage Air A/C.
Chassis and suspension include: Art Morrison chassis, tubular IFS, triangulated four-link rear suspension; Ride Tech ‘Shock Wave’ air ride suspension.
Powertrain and electrical includes: Roush Racing Ford 302ci. Crate Motor; custom aluminum radiator; custom upper radiator Y pipe; custom drive shaft; narrowed Ford 9-inch rear end; one off HRE 3-piece wheels 19x8 in front and 20x10 in the rear; Wilwood brake kit 6-piston front and 4-piston rear with cross drilled and slotted rotors; hidden wiring, hidden adjustable MSD electronic ignition; HID headlights; LED taillights; hidden battery; hidden electrical hub.
All of the welds were perfectly done, nothing was left to chance. It is literally a rolling piece of automotive art. The amount of time and effort invested has been well worth the wait as this build has been in process for over 5 years. This spectacular vehicle was the feature car in the November 2011 issue of Rod & Custom Magazine, Metal Majesty, also known as Josephine. Also recently published in Street Muscle magazine online.
