Car description

1969 Mercury Cougar XR 7 Convertible

Vehicle Overview:

I have owned the car for the last 4 years. This car has just come off a full frame-on restoration, with 100 miles logged since completion. The car is an original California car and retains all its original sheet metal. It contains no rust.It has a 351W-4V engine mated to a 3-speedautomatic transmission. Car comes equipped with power steering, power brakes, rim-blow steering wheel, remote control left-hand mirror, AC, power top,60-series BF Goodrich tires mounted on 15" Magnum wheels. All suspension parts, front-end brake lines and master brake cylinderhave been replaced. New anti-sway bars were added to both front and rear end. Differential was rebuilt. The power steeringsystem was rebuilt. The AC system has been rebuilt. All under-hood and undercarriageparts were powder-coated prior to reinstalling. The radiatorhas been reconditionedand an electronic fan added for better cooling. All belts and hoses have been replaced. The engine was rebuilt and a competition crankshaft, exhaust manifold, electronic ignitionandcarburetoradded. The hood scoop is functional with outside airfunneling directly to the air cleaner assembly. The enginewasrepainted Ford blue. The exhaust system was completely replaced with new headers, dual exhaust and chrome tips. Vacuum controlled headlights have been replaced with electric motors for reliability. Rear sequential lights were rebuilt. All bright-work was either replaced or re-chromed. The transmission was rebuilt and a shifter kit installed. A new sound system was added, including AM/FM radio, 5 speakers and a 6 CD changer mounted in the trunk. Seats and door panels were completely reupholstered in the original factory pattern and color of white. Center console was reconditioned/rebuilt. The dash was reconditioned. Steering wheel was reconditioned and rim-blow steering wheel made functional again. All seat belts were replaced. Carpet was not replaced during recent restoration, as its condition was excellent. The paint was taken down to bare metal, the entire car stripped of all parts, body components alignedand then resprayed ina blue metallic. All weather-stripping replaced. All striping waspainted and sealedunder the clear coat for a mirror-like look and feel ($15K invested inpaint). The undercarriage was completely stripped and repainted, including all four wheel-wells. The engine bay was also completely stripped of all parts and repainted. Power top mechanisms have been rebuilt/replaced. Convertible top, rear glass and boot replaced. New side window glass all around. Power windows are operable. Gauges work with the exception of the low-fuel reminder light. Tires are new as well as the Magnum wheels. Trunk mat, spare tire cover, along with spare tire and wheel have been replaced.Comes with custom-fitcar cover, DeluxeMarti Report, window sticker, owner's manual and full set of service books.Car comes with full and clear title. Over $65K invested in restoration to date.

While the car has been fully restored, it is not without its imperfections. They are as follows. The AC does not blow as cold as I think it should. The side glass could stand further adjusting to improve sealing - doors require additional effort to close when all windows are up.Steering requires additional effort at idle speed.

I have tried to be as honest as possible in describing the car. Please feel free to ask questions. I encourage you to physically view the car, if at all possible, or arrange to have it inspected - allat buyer's cost. Additional pictures available upon request.
