Offered for sale is one of the most unique cars to come out of Detroit at the height of the Muscle Car Era, the 1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator. There is perhaps no finer a combination of luxury and pure muscle performance than the 69 Cougar Eliminator, especially in that this car was originally optioned with a 428 Cobra Jet Engine with Ram Air.
As optioned, this particular Eliminator is only 1 of 162 428 R Code Cougar Eliminators built in 1969 with a C6 Automatic transmission.
This car has undergone a no expense Concours frame off restoration. Upon completion it won a First Junior AACA Award and the following year went on to win a First Senior AACA Award.
This car has garnered national attention and has been featured in Muscle Car Review, Hemmings Muscle Machines, and Muscle Car Milestones. Known as the "Zortman Cougar," (named after the gentleman who restored it) this car has become the benchmark against which all other 1969 Cougar Eliminators are judged.
Included with the car is its original smog equipment (not currently installed).
High Performance Mercury Cougars have become some of the hottest selling and most desirable muscle cars on the market today, as evidence in recent Barrett Jackson and Mecum Auction Events. Do not miss the chance to own one of the most beautifully restored, rare muscle cars ever built.
