Car description |
---|
1979 Mercury Cougar sedan with 37k original miles. 302 CID V8, C4 trans 9" rear end.
The car runs surprisingly well. Shifts through all three gears and reverse, stops straight and smooth. Steering is a little loose.
The car had been sitting in a garage for 15 years on the original 14" whitewalls. Previous owner used a Bobcat to remove it from the garage, crushing the gas tank, causing body damage to both sides of the car and some scratches on the front bumper. Front right door and rear left fenderwell took the most of the damage. Mice also got in the interior but the only damage is to the headliner by the visors.
Car was just detailed, waxed.
I installed a gas tank from a 78 Thunderbird. Fuel gauge still isnt working, but the sending unit is easy to replace and if I have time, I will do it within the next week.
Has a used radiator from a 77 Thunderbird. Ive driven it a couple hundred miles and it always stays cool.
I upgraded the wheels to 15" steel wheels from an 88 Grand Marquis with 225/70R15 whitewalls. All are in ok shape with 7-6/32" tread except the right right is at 4/32".
Original spare is in the trunk. Holds air, balanced. All the jack and tools are still there.
It has all the manuals and paperwork for a 77 Cougar.
I put in a clock from a Cougar Brougham, but it doesnt work. I installed the chrome trim on the pedals. Fresh oil change.
Hubcaps are from a 78 Grand Marquis.
Car has a dealer installed Craig tape deck with the owners manual. The Craig speaker covers are in the glove box.
I cleaned out the vents so that air is blowing like it should. Although the compressor is turning when the Ac is on, its not cold air. When I have time, I will put some freon in it. It it works, it works. If not, I wont pursue it any farther.
Horn, clock, washer motor are inoperable. Everything else works.
The car isnt perfect, but its in great shape for its age and history. I use it as a weekend car, but it can be a daily driver.
Car is located in Wadsworth, IL. I can deliver it pretty much anywhere for a price and a deposit.
Car is titled, registered and insured in my name. You just buy, sign and drive it anywhere.
I have it for sale locally and have the right to end the auction as necessary.
I accept Paypal or cash. Nothing else. I need a $500 deposit within 24 hours of auction close and will hold the car for up to two weeks as a courtesy. After tha, I will relist the item unless other arrangements are made.
