Car description

For sale is a beautiful 39-year-old Cougar that is exceptionally-preserved and has aged extremely well. The 1977-1979 Mercury Cougar XR7 was the best-selling Cougar of all time. With just over 35,000 miles, this Cougar is barely broken in. It is mostly all original; it has been minimally & tastefully modified with Flowmaster Exhaust and staggered Foose Wheels. This 1978 Mercury Cougar XR7 Coupe is turn-key, doesn't leak a drop of fluid, and is ready for its new owner to enjoy. If you are hoping to find a bargain that needs work and that you would need to tinker with, this is probably not the right car for you. The car is a constant conversation-starter and gets an unbelievable amount of praise from everyone that sees it. You'll need to get used to the honks and the thumbs-up that you'll get when you drive it.

Mechanical:
-351-Windsor V8
-Automatic Transmission
-New Fel-Pro Intake Manifold Gasket
-New Fel-Pro Rear Main Seal (this was a very expensive repair that could have been foregone but I didn't want the car to leak even a drop of oil)
-New Power-Steering Pump
-Hoses and vacuum lines replaced as needed
-Car drives perfectly straight (alignment recently done)
Exterior:
-Paint is in excellent condition with a few rock chips
-Car was in Minnesota from 1978-1999 and has surface rust on undercarriage. It's not structural, cancerous, or problematic. Very tiny specks/areas of surface rust on fenders (please see YouTube videos).
-Red pin-stripes show no signs of wear/weathering
-The vinyl top is structurally in excellent condition without any rips but does have patches where the color of the vinyl top has worn thin. It's not very noticeable unless you look closely.
-All plastic & chrome is in mint/excellent condition
-All bumper fillers are in mint/excellent condition
-New staggered chrome Foose Wheels (cost approx $1500)
-New tires with about 4k miles (tires just balanced)
-Original wheels/tires are unavailable and do not come with the vehicle
-The original spare is in the trunk, unused, and in mint condition
Interior:
-Rare Rally Sport Tach and Gauge Package (only 25% of Cougar XR7s came with this option)
-Museum quality interior (see video where I point out 3 minor imperfections)
-Not a single crack on the dash
-No rips in headliner
-P/windows, p/driver-seat, mechanical side-mirrors
-Cruise control works
-Brand-new high-quality floormats
-Everything works (radio, AC, heat, wipers, lights)
-Only thing that does not work is the dash clock (didn't want mechanic to go behind dash)
NADA Guides has a vehicle in this condition (High Retail) valued at $11,437. Add the value of the Flowmasters & Foose Wheels and subtract for the fact that it was a MN car for 21 years, I'm asking $9,500.
