Car description

1970 Mercury Cougar Eliminator ( One of 56 or less!)

88443 miles !

In 1970For produced 2267Cougar Eliminators, 62 were in Green with a 351 4V 4 speed manual transmission. What makes this car rare is the color, the 4speed and the Eliminator package.

This beautiful car needs a new home! It does play well with others in the garage however it likes to have thelitterbox to itself, kind of needy that way.

I found this car In a pole barn out east sitting for many years with 86000 miles.

After 2 years of restorationthe end result yielded a beautiful Cougar thatwas nearlya newcar.

The restoration was Professionally done by taking this car completely apart leaving nothing on the body, so the saying not a bolt remained unturned is not an understatement.

The rotisserie restoration and all new factory correct hardware make this a near concourse restoration.

This Numbers matchingcar wasbuilt tobe driven so everything has beendone from the completely rebuilt Motor and transmission, all new Brakes and suspension, done with care by yours truly right down to the Tiger paw tires where the tail on the center caps face the valve steamand the P in Pawface thevalve steam as well.

The great running 351 Cleveland 4v was bored 20 over and the stock replacement 11.1 flat top pistons were kept, soYes the compression is 11.1 :-) the body has zero rust and the paint is near show condition.

There wasgreat care and it was almost anal amounts of time spent with the assembly of this car, everything fits better than factory ever did and if it was not right it was done again! there are no missing parts and no non-correct items on this car. If you ever wanted to jump in a car and fall back to 1970 this if the car for you!

I wash the car once a year in spring and it does not go out in the rain, I can say it has been wet maybe5 times this decade.

The car was done 100% stock other than the Radial tires, electronic ignition and the Cam is slightly larger.

Runs and drives great with lots of power for showing off! :-)

Now for the cool stuff.

On the Nada web site please add 300 hp 351 4v and the 4 speed as the page seems to remove the important option settings.

On Mar-24-17 at 08:27:32 PDT, seller added the following information:

Please note Nada has this car at $44,000 to $55,000 and that does not take in to account that this car is more rare because of the competition green.

Hint the reserve isnot that highso if you want this car you do not have far to go!

Bid now! Great car!

Ireceivedan email from Mike B at the Cougar clubs of America, as some of you may know they do hard research on these cars and keep a registry. PerMike, My 1 of 62 number is incorrect, below is what he stated and this car may be more rare than we thought! Please read

Hi Charles,
Yes, your car is recorded in the Eliminator Registry - it was added in June 1991! Unfortunately, that is the only previous entry for your car.
Regarding your production number of "1 of 62" - I believe that is incorrect, and that the true number is actually lower than that.
My information shows that there were 56 Competition Green Eliminators with 351C-4V and Manual Transmission. This number includes 3-speed manual and both wide- and close-ratio 4-speed manual transmissions. The Eliminator Registry currently records only 16 of those cars.
I hope that information is useful to you!
