1989 Mercury Grand Marquis LS

The finest example in the marketplace!

Over 100 Detailed Photos available upon request

Hello fellow Ebayer. Before you read on, please know that I am a seller of honesty and integrity and that is reflected by my feedback. In today’s global marketplace, reputation is everything! If you have any questions at all, please reach out with your phone number and I will gladly give you a call to discuss in depth before your bid. With that being said here are the details and history:

We are selling our 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis LS which is in amazing condition. If there were a Concours event for the Grand Marquis, this one would definitely take home a trophy!!! Upon purchase you would actually be the third owner in the title chain. In, reality you would be the second. I say that because we purchased this car from a friend who bought it brand new so, I consider it family. Jim, the original owner, lived in Gillette, NJ. He and his wife purchased the car on September 5th, 1989 from Ditschman Ford in Flemington, NJ specifically to take on highway trips to and from Myrtle Beach, where they vacationed annually. The original bill of sale will be included in your purchase. The Marquis has always been garage kept and temperature controlled until November 2015 when we bought it from Jim. It has still always been garage kept, just not temperature controlled as our garage is detached.

Jim sold the car to us because he was downsizing to a condo and didn’t want to pay additional storage for the car. I have included a picture of Jim with the car the day I picked it up. The mileage was 72,683 the day we purchased it from Jim.

Condition: Since we have owned the Grand Marquis we have put approx 300 miles on it. If you are looking at this car, I am sure you are familiar with the options. The Marquis was appraised in December 2015 by my insurance company for $12,000. We are not asking for that. NO REASONABLE OFFER WILL BE REFUSED!!! There are other Grand Marquis online that are nowhere near the condition of ours and they are asking 12-15k. As for the condition of the car, it is MINT. I only washed the dust off the car and vacuumed for the pictures. I have left the engine compartment untouched only wiping the front cross member of dust. Many spray oily stuff all over the compartment to make it look black, but I do not like that and prefer you view the car in its original state. I have well over 100 pictures of the car including the complete under carriage. If you would like to see more, please let me know and I will send you a Google link to them. There is not a single dent or ding and the vehicle body is completely rust free and laser straight. All original paperwork, keys, and manuals will be included with the car. The Marquis has never been smoked in. There are only two issues for me to note.

1 - The A/C blows ice cold but needs to be charged annually. Should be a simple repair as it looks to be small seal leak where two lines that join together.

2 – There is a ¾ inch square of adhesive on the top middle of the dash where Jim’s wife had a small figurine. I believe it can be gently removed, but I will leave that to you. It never bothered us.

You may ask why are we selling the car. My wife says we need the garage spot back. Happy wife = Happy life so I am selling the car.

That’s it folks! The car is full power and runs like it’s brand new. All electronics and systems work like new. Tires are in great shape and have approx. 60-70% of their life left. If there are any questions, please reach out with your phone number and I will call you back ASAP to answer them and discuss.

Thanks For looking! Below are the Sale Specifics!

Auction specifics:

We require a small, non-refundable deposit of $500 U.S. via Paypal within 24 hours of the auction end time. The balance of the purchase is to be paid within 5 days unless otherwise discussed and agreed upon. For Everyone’s safety, the balance shall be paid Cash in person (at a bank), or a Paypal transaction. If you have any questions about these options please get in touch and we can have a discussion and come to an agreement. We also have this vehicle listed locally and reserve the right to end the auction if the vehicle is sold before the auction ends.

Inspections: I would be more than happy to bring the car to any Ford dealer for an inspection that is paid for by you. I will also be happy to meet with any vehicle inspectors as long as we have an appointment. Send your pickiest person to inspect the Marquis. You will not be disappointed!

Shipping:

All shipping cost will be the responsibility of the buyer. The car is located in Far Hills, NJ 07931. We will not release the car to any shipper or person until the car is paid in full and all payments have cleared. While I prefer to do business in the lower 48 US States, I will work with international buyers as well. I do have experience in selling and shipping vehicles globally that I have sold over the years.

The Marquis is what I would refer to as a Fly ‘n’ Drive car. If you like, the nearest airport is Newark Liberty International – EWR. It is 30 minutes away. You can fly in and I will personally pick you up in your new Grand Marquis. Then you can drive home from there without worry! Sometimes shipping is less expensive overall, but this is an option if you like.

Storage:

This would be handled on a case by case basis. If this is something you may need we would have to discuss it before our transaction.

Worldwide (Buyers outside the U.S.):

While I prefer to do business within the Lower 48 U.S. States, I will do business globally and meet with your chosen shipper to pick up the car. All expenses of shipping will be paid for by the purchaser. The vehicle will not be released until any and all payments have been received and cleared. No Exceptions.
