Car description |
---|
Up for auction is this 1970 Mercury Cougar originally sold at Westside For, aft, A. on Feb. 25, 970. I have owned it almost 10 years. This car is very rust free and in clean driver condition. Has been a California car all of it's life and still has original issue 6 digit blue and yellow California License plates and original dealer plate frames. Title is clean and I just paid for 2016 registration renewal. Have original owners manual with metal ID plate (what in GM speak is the Protect O Plate), nd some service records dating back to the 1980's.Body is in good shape for a car of this age. There are no rust holes anywhere, nd this car has been in no major accidents. Sheet metal is all original to this car. Body had typical parking lot dings that would be typical for a 45 year old car. There is a slight amount of body filler on the drivers side quarter panel where the original owner backed into a pole back in the 1970's and a repair was made. The current paint is an old faded black color that was applied on top of the original metallic green. It would not take much to put a high end paint job on this car if that is what you wanted to do. All door jambs and trunk inner panels are still in original paint with original Ford decals. Underneath is very straight and rust free. Floors are in great shape-no need for patch panels here. The original rubber plugs to access the front seats studs have never been removed. All glass is in good condition. Headlight doors work properly, ut do not stay closed unless the motor is running. Tail lights all work and the all important sequential turn signals work like they should. Had a vinyl top when new, ut that has been removed and painted a gloss black textured pain, o it looks like it has a black vinyl top. There are no rust holes around the windows at all. Bumpers would need to be straightened and rechromed if you were to make this into a show car.Deluxe Interior is completely original and in nice condition. Even the carpet is original!! Seats and center console have never been removed from the car. All seats are in nice condition except for a torn area on the drivers seat-this would need to be re covered if making a show car. Door panels are all there and almost perfect. All interior lights work, ncluding those in the door panels. Headliner has a few minor tears. Dash pad is cracked. Original Philco radio lights up when turned on but does not play music. Console top door has been replaced and 69-70 Shelby style gauge cluster is where the ash tray used to be and has mechanical water temp and oil pressure gauges. Was and AC car originally.302 Ford engine (NOM) .030 over high nickel content Mexican block. Stock Ford iron heads. Holley 600 CFM carb with Edelbrock Performer intake manifold. Engle .490 lift hyd cam. Mallory Unilite Electronic ignition. Chrome Tri-Y headers and dual exhaust. Exhaust not great. Original Large style radiator still has FOMOCO logo and part number stamped on it. Fan shroud is from a 68. Engine has always been well maintained, nd I just changed the oil and filter last week. Engine runs good and does not smoke.C4 automatic transmission shifts fine and was just serviced with new fluid and filter. Case fill 26 spline.Power steering works fine. Power front disc brakes stop great. Brake system was gone through a few years ago with new power booster, aster cylinder and brake pads. Brakes have maybe 2000 miles on them, f that. Front and rear suspensions are original.Magnum 500 wheels pictured will go with the car. Tires are ok.Car runs and drives nice. Could be a daily driver if you wanted it to be, r make a show ca, liminator Re-Creation, he possibilities are endless. I have been driving it around like it now sits and I get plenty of compliments out on the road or at a cruise night. The nice part is you can spend money on the fun things instead of the high cost of sheet metal replacement. The Buy-It-Now price is very fair for what the car is and its condition.Car is sold as-is where-is. There are no warranties expressed or implied. Buyer is responsible for pickup and/or making shipping arrangements and shipping costs. I will try to make myself as available as I can to make vehicle pickup as easy as possible. Car is also for sale locally, o I reserve the right to end the auction at any tim, ithout notice. If you need more information please email me, will be happy to tell you what you want to know. Sorry, o international buyers. Thanks for looking and good luck.On Sep-27-15 at 19:18:37 PDT, eller added the following information:
I have just added photos of both the Data Plate Decal and the Warranty Service Plate. The only code that is not legible is the Color Code which is the letter G. I apologize for not posting this information when I did the listing.
