Car description |
---|
This little roadster is in great condition and with some minor restoration could be a great little sports car!
This Mercedes Convertible is from an estate collection we are selling this summer. This southern convertible has a V8 motor (believed to be the original), utomatic transmission and manual top. This beauty is in really nice shape being mostly FACTORY original with only a few items changed and a repaint. I believe the drive train is original as well as 99% of the car.
She is pretty straight and has a great curb presence. Although this 450SL has been sitting for years it does run and drive and the convertible top does operate. This is a rare classic car with a low reserve to protect some of its value. If the reserve is not met we will work with the highest bidder to try to complete the sale before relisting. All Estate vehicles must sell.
Please enjoy the video: http://youtu.be/Qufia-rNUcY which shows off the car like you are standing next to it.
The Body is very solid, ice, hiny, nd straight with a good quality paint job! Body is fairly nice and shiny in its present state, o major dents but it's basically a stored survivor and could be easily restored to original factory condition without the major expenses of rust repair.
The chrome and brite work are in good-to-nice condition. All will need some cleaning and polishing but no pitting to speak of. The bumpers are straight and rubber guards are in nice condition. The trim is in very good shape as is the stainless.
The convertible top is in very nice condition without any damage but it needs a deep cleaning to bring out the brightness. All the locks and hardware to operate it are present and working. The hard top is painted to match the body and needs cleaning and the back glass is broken out of it.
Window channels look good and so does the glass (no cracks or sanding marks). All the exterior trim is there, oors, ower windows, runk and hood operate as they should with matching keys. Weatherstripping and rubber are good for their age but are original pieces.
The odometer shows 92,000 miles.
The Dark Blue Interior is original to the car and some restoration will be needed for the seats and sun visors and the padding has deteriorated over the years. The original carpeting is good and could use a cleaning. Although it is in nice condition there may be evidence of wear due to the age of the car. Most everything works on the dash but the radio does not. The steering wheel is in good condition with minor aging. The passenger power window switch needs to be replaced, he window does work but the switch is very bad and rarely works anymore.
The Drivetrain is a 4520cc V-8 engine which starts and runs with out any noise, moke or really any leaks. It does need a tune-up since it's missing. It will drive around fine but should be trailered and all systems gone over before putting it back on the road. The transmission operates and shifts as it should. No problems in the rearend. The car does hold a battery charge for weeks without killing the battery Again the car starts fine, uns, rives, teers without any major issues. Wire wheels look to be original but are slightly rusty from years of sitting. Tires look ok, ot dry rotted but are older models.
The Undercarriage is in nice condition too. Floor pans and frame are original and in good condition. Trunk spare tire well is in good condition not smashed like some. Muffler is rotted away and needs to be replaced.
Other info: The car is in pretty much original condition. Car comes with one factory key for doors, gnition and trunk. There are 2 other keys for that go with it.
Plastic brake switch on dash is cracked.
