Car description

1957 Mercedes Benz 190SL Description 1957 Mercedes-Benz 190SL (Be sure to use your browser's inner scroll bar to scroll through the 100 photos below!) Black exterior with red interior. the original and factory correct color combination for this car. Originally a southern California car. it lived in California for many years with its original owner until he moved to Arizona and took the car with him in the mid 2000s. His neighbor in Arizona bought it from him in the mid 2000s. That gentleman is a customer of mine and I bought it from him about a year and a half ago years ago. I am just the third owner since 1957. I’ve owned a number of 190SLs and this is the best driving. most solid feeling one I’ve experienced. The engine is strong and is fitted with its original Solex carburetors. The transmission shifts smoothly through the gears. it’s just a joy to get out and drive. During my ownership I installed a new starter as well as a OEM Mercedes factory exhaust system. This is a very solid example. it’s never been in bad weather or snow. It has solid floors and trunk without rust. The car was repainted in its correct black color (040) some years ago before my ownership. the paint is shiny and holding up well but has several flaws and rock chips that are pointed out clearly in the photos. overall it show very well. Chrome and brightwork is shiny and presentable throughout. In addition to a new canvas soft top last year (the plastic back window if crystal clear). a new red leather interior was installed including door panels. seats and carpet on the rear parcel shelf. The correct black rubber floor mats remain in the front. The entire dash was removed. The metal dash was repainted and is perfect. the red leather dash top is also new. The car retains its original Becker Europa radio. All gauges and dials work properly. The odometer indicates 18. 80 miles. which is in fact 118. 80. The ivory colored steering wheel is new from Mercedes-Benz. The car is equipped with its original hard top. although it is not pictured here. I restored the hard top with new paint. chrome and weather seals. The underside photos show the solidity of the car. I haven’t had the bottom of the car steamed cleaned. you can still see Arizona dirt and dust underneath. The engine bay is clean and in good order as it should be for a high quality driver condition car. but not overly restored or detailed. This car has always been well cared for and maintained. you can feel that in the way it drives 60. even 70 miles per hour is solid and comfortable. The engine retains a very clean and original look. many of the original and correct hose clamps and other details are present. The tool roll and original owner’s manual is also with the car and included in the sale. If you’re looking for a gorgeous 190SL with a correct. honest and original feel. a car that you can get in and enjoy today. this is the one. Feel free to call me with questions. Bruce in Minneapolis.
