Car description

Re-listed due to No-Contact / Non-Paying Bidder. Please do not bid if you have no intention of following through with the purchase. No Reserve!! 1991 Mercedes 300TE Wagon 4matic with 3rd Row Seat 3. 0L Straight 6 Engine. Auto Transmission 4matic all-wheel drive system Brand New Battery Installed VA Inspection sticker expires on 5/15 Historic – cheap registration and insurance! Please read the description fully and ensure that you can meet the obligations of this auction before bidding. As is stated above. this is a NO RESERVE auction for a 1991 Mercedes 300TE station wagon. This car has the big straight 6 engine. 4matic all-wheel drive system. and 3rd row seat. Pretty much everything you could want in one of these old MB wagons. The engine runs well and has plenty of power. It does not overheat. smoke or have blow-by. Oil pressure sits between 1. 5 and 2 Bar at idle. and 3 Bar while driving. I’ve just installed a brand new battery. It could use a tune-up. as when you do a cold start in the morning it runs a bit rough for about 2 minutes. The automatic transmission shifts through all of its gears without any slipping and the shift points are normal. Shifts are mildly abrupt. so it may be time for a transmission fluid and filter change. The drivetrain feels solid. but there is a mild “whirring” from the rear differential that gets more noticeable at higher speeds. so it is probably due for some new gear oil as well. The driveshaft occasionally makes a “clunk” during gear shifts. which is probably a U-joint that needs replacing. The suspension feels good. it is neither too firm nor bouncy. The car is wonderful on the highway. a proper autobahn cruiser. but still feels comfortable on neighborhood streets. The brakes are strong. This car comes from Virginia and was required to have a yearly safety inspection. The current inspection sticker expires on 5/2015. The tan interior of this car is in above average condition for the age. The leather seats are in good shape. Though there is some cracking and discoloration on the driver’s seat. the other seats look great. There is no cracking or sun damage on the dash or door panels. There are a few small cracks on the center console fascia. The headliner is clean and does not sag. The carpets and the factory mats are clean. and in good condition. but there is some staining in the rear cargo area. The car also has a set of heavy-duty rubber mats to go over the factory mats. There are power locks. power windows. power seats. a power sunroof and a power passenger’s side mirror. This car has cruise control. but I have not been able to get it to work. There is a driver airbag and ABS. The heater works well. The A/C feels cool. but not cold. so it may need a charge. An aftermarket Pioneer radio / CD player has been installed and works. This wagon has the rear seat. so it can carry 7 people. or you can fold down the middle seat to create a huge cargo space in the back. All of the dash gauges work. and none of the warning lights are on. though the check engine light does not come on when first starting the car. so it may be burned out or may have been removed. There is a speaker cover missing on the rear. passenger’s side door. and the passenger’s sun visor is also missing. but these parts should be easy to find online or in a junkyard. Other than that the interior is quite good. and even the original First Aid Kit is still present and intact! The navy blue exterior of the car has some definite wear and tear. and is average or a little below for the age of the car. There is oxidation of the paint on the hood and roof. and a scrape with associated mild denting on the driver’s side. There is the occasional ding or scratch as expected for an older car. but the body is solid. and I don’t see any rust on the shell or underneath. The exterior lights all work. as well as both the front and rear wipers. The power antenna is broken. The roof rack has a small break on one rail which is pictured. This car has the factory alloy wheels. The rear tires are in good condition. but the front tires are low on tread. This is a great old Mercedes wagon. and deserves to go to a good home. It’s getting harder and harder to find these without astronomical mileage or severe rust. With a bit of work on the exterior. and a good maintenance program. this will be a very nice. very reliable car that can haul people. pets and gear. The 4matic drivetrain means no more worrying about snow or wet roads. If you’ve been looking for one of these classic euro wagons. this is the one. This car is not in showroom condition. it is a 24 year-old car with a few faults. and I have described those faults that I have found. In my opinion the condition of this car is slightly above average for the age. but that is my opinion. I’d recommend that you please read the description thoroughly. look at all of the pictures. and come see the car to decide for yourself before you bid. I invite serious bidders to please come and see / drive this car. If you do. you will be bidding until the end to get it.
