1980 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 450SL - No Reserve

1980 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 450SL. The engine is a 4.5 liter V8. Original paint. Original carpet and leather seats. Rare China Blue color. Zenith Wire Wheel Company true wire wheels, which were a dealer installed option. Automatic transmission and power windows.

New fuel pump and fuel filter. New fuel injectors. Spark plugs, coil and spark plug wires have all been replaced. Rubber replaced around the side windows with genuine Mercedes rubber. All belts and radiator hoses have been replaced. Paint is in good shape except on the hood - the hood insulating pad deteriorated and degraded the paint finish. The hood insulating pad has been replaced. All gauges work,including the clock.

Front end suspension/steering rubber components have been replaced and the steering is tight. The front shocks have been replaced. I am including new rear shocks,which I have never installed. I am also including a pressure gauge and hosesspecificallydesigned to test the system and control pressure of the K-Jetronic fuel injection system.

The odometer is stuck on 43,999 miles. I am estimating that the actual mileage is between 50,000 and 60,000 miles. The car runs, but it does not currently run smoothly and there is blue smoke coming out of the exhaust. I suspect that there are some issues with the fuel injection system and the valve seals likely need to be replaced, but I do not have time to diagnose the problem.

I am the 4thowner.I inherited this car in 2005 from my father when he passed away. I have kept it in the garage for 15 years and have rarely driven it. The car means a lot to me but I am downsizing and need to sell it. This is a really beautiful car that gets tons of compliments. It will be a nice driver once the engine issue is resolved.

I need to add the following information for full disclosure: the air conditioning does not work on this car. The air conditioning servo leaks and needs to be repaired or replaced. This is a very common problem with this model. Also, the convertible top needs to be replaced. The hard top is fine.
