Hello, I have for sale my beloved Mercedes Benz W140 300 SD Turbodiesel. I am the second owner of this rare overengineered mammoth. I have owned this vehicle for over 10 years and drove it occasionally. It is garage kept and kept to the highest standards in maintenance. The car is immaculate and shows Excellent.
I purchased the vehicle in Texas in 2010 from a well-known doctor in Houston. He purchased the vehicle new at Crown Motors and was serviced at Park Place Mercedes. I have the service booklet stamped throughout and maintenance records on my end. When I purchased the vehicle I drove her straight home. While on the trip I noticed that the vehicle was consuming oil at around 800 miles per quart and the transmission was a bit delayed to engage in reverse approx 3 sec or so. I drove the vehicle as it was extremely reliable for about a year. I then found an om603.971 off a 1993 Mercedes 300sd donor vehicle that had a remanufactured Mercedes motor and new Mercedes transmission and proceeded to do the engine and transmission swap. The documentation on the new engine is in my paperwork. The engine had about 90000 miles and the transmission of fewer than 12000 miles. This resolved the engine issue and transmission issue. The engine does not use a drop of oil through its 4500-mile cycle and the transmission shifts smooth and like new. The engine is extremely quiet and powerful. The drive train flex joints and motor and transmission mounts are new
As the years have gone by I treated the car to a complete paint job with six coats of clear. While in the process I upgraded the vehicle to the facelifted W140 as you can see in the pictures. I also replaced the lenses in the front and back.
The interior is an amazing place to be; it has saddle leather and mocha trim. It has that amazing smell of quality throughout. The wood is in good condition and the Bose 13 speaker stereo sounds great. I replaced the original head unit with a cd aux unit and the factory Bose amplifier with two hi-power amps.
I have spent so much time and money on this vehicle because there is nothing I have ever driven that drives like a w140. It is smooth and silent and delivers 4cyl fuel economy it is well over-engineered and frugal and reliable like a Honda.
Mechanically as I mentioned perfectly and meticulously maintained. Over the years I replaced the radiator, reservoir, fan clutch water pump, and thermostat and added a low C relay for the front fans. This upgrade keeps the car in 100-degree weather at 82 degrees celsius. You can push it at triple-digit speeds up mountainous terrain and the car keeps cool. The air conditioning system is fairly new with a compressor and drier. The evaporator was replaced with the upgraded unit from Mercedes. The airconditioning is ice cold.
Throughout the engine I have done recently fuel filters, Upper and lower engine wiring harness, glow plugs, fuel injectors, return lines and all vacuum lines in the engine. The cylinder head was removed and refurbished with new valve seals and guides. I also upgraded the weak head gasket with a custom made copper gasket. The chain tensioner was replaced and all hoses and clamps.
I have always used synthetic oil from Rotella or Mobil 1 and factory oil filters.
All this work has been done not because of failure but for peace of mind. You can jump in this vehicle and drive it reliably to any destination without worry.
The suspension is all-new including Bilstein shocks and coils. The front suspension has received new ball joints and tie rods and was recently aligned, many other parts have been replaced that i have not mentioned. I truly love this car and always was on top of it making it perfect.
