Car description |

In March 1963 the new generation of SL sports cars was launched with the debut of the 230 SL at the Geneva Show. This revolutionary new model replaced the then ageing 190 and 300SL models. Mercedes engineering, together with elegance and practicality, made the pagoda top SL one of the most distinctive designs of its era. As today, Mercedes-Benz motorcars were never cheap, but superb build quality and sophisticated styling made the 230SL an extremely popular sports car among motoring enthusiasts.
We are pleased to bring to market this very strong running and nicely documented Pagoda for your consideration. Only 31k miles show on the odometer and previous customer assured us that they are original to the car and we have a thick file of receipts that helps to document them. Cars like this don't come around very often as most are really beat up and have a long list of items to correct or the concourse style ones that will cost a small fortune and then be too scared to enjoy it. This great driver is so much fun to drive with the rare 4spd manual transmission. The proven fuel injection system brings this car to life quickly and hustles thru all gears with ease and precision. Vehicle looks great and shows some small signs of wear on the paint, but you would be still proud to show it off at any regional car show. Interior is in great shape and the wood remains in great shape along with seats, carpeting, dash, door panels and mechanicals. All the lights are working properly other than the passenger front turn signal. Wipers function along with all gauges and horn. Newer Pioneer stereo was installed and plays your favorite music. Newer navy blue soft top is in great shape and really compliments the car all around. Vehicle does retain the "knotches" and "spot welds" that is so important to these cars.
Recent service work includes; battery, fuel pump, rear shocks, battery cables, spark plugs, rear differential pinion seal, and tires. The car was stored for the past 15+ years in a heated garage and used very rarely in Big Sky Montana. Vehicle comes with original owner's manual, original build sheet, workshop manual, a file of receipts, spare tire and jack, 2 sets of keys and some extra parts.
If you are looking for an exquisite driver that reliable mechanicals, a great core structure and wonderful cosmetics at an entry level price, than this car is a must consideration. A Bargain at the price offered here.
