All vehicle trades considered, including classics and performance. I can assist with financing and transport as needed.
The Mercedes-Benz SL (sport light) family of 2-seat roadsters has been one of their most endearing and identifiable products, having been in production for 65 years. This 1977 450SL represents the third generation of the line and shows why these cars have stood the test of time.
This is a very solid example from southern California with a rust-free body and underside. It has 64k miles and has seen one repaint in its original code 470 Colorado Beige which really gives the car a rich look. This convertible is complete with a body colored hard top and black soft top which gives you three different looks from the same car. The bumpers, trim, and lenses are in good shape throughout. There are also four new P205/70R14 tires.
The 1977 450SL is powered by the factory 4.5L V8 engine featuring Bosch fuel injection, while the transmission is a 3-speed automatic. The ride is very comfortable, especially for such a short wheelbase, while handling is exceptional with the independent rear suspension. The power steering is nice and tight thanks to a new center link and tie rod ends. The power four-wheel disc brakes are very effective as well.
The matching leather interior is in very good condition throughout. It cannot be confused for anything but a Mercedes-Benz. Everything is factory original with the exception of the JVC stereo system. The speedometer and all gauges work properly including the clock! The wipers, horn, power windows, and power antenna are all good too. So are all the lights and turn signals. And unlike many cars of this vintage, this one has working air conditioning that blows cold with R12 refrigerant.
The Mercedes-Benz R107 platform was one of their most successful and stylish designs of all time. Further, this 450SL still looks good despite being 43 years old. It represents a relatively inexpensive way to get into a classy European sports convertible that is poised to become a future collectible.
