I have owned this car for a little over a month and had plans to restore it. Like my other vehicle for sale I am also selling this one. because of divorce. I purchased this Mercedes from the original owner. It had been kept in a garage un-driven for at least 3 years. It has over 171. 00 miles on the engine. yet it is sound and runs very well. I had my mechanic check and fine tune. and the car passed smog easily. It was never in a wreck and body. chassis. bumpers. engine. interior and lights are all intact and original. Chrome is is almost flawless. Interior is in good shape for being as old as it is. There are no rips or tears on the seats. but leather is worn and cracked in places. The dash is in great shape. All gages on dash work except for the clock. The rag top is also in great shape - it looks like it was hardly used. I put in a new stereo with am/fm. cd. ipod. bluetooth. I saved the factory am/fm cassette player also. Brakes are new. Oil has been changed and I have driven it less than 500 miles. Here's what I know needs attention on this car in order to make it showroom: The previous owner backed into something and put a small ding in the trunk hood (see pic). Also the previous owner dropped the top when removing it and there are three areas that are dented along the top front (see pic). Paint is original and has oxidized in many places. and clear coat is worn. Body will need a respray. Wheels will need to be re-chromed. Leather interior needs restoration in spots. but not necessary overall. The plastic clips that hold the visors are cracked and broken. so you will need a pair of those which can be purchased on ebay for $32. Eventually the engine will need a new main engine seal. and you should replace the gear box. Climate control (air conditioner and heater) needs repair. I bought this 560SL because it is intact and reliable. and it's an easy. and fairly cheap restoration. I am sad to sell it before I got to restore it myself.
