Car description |

Back in '99 I had a 300SD that my step father bought. Beautiful car in perfect condition. I put over 180,000 miles on that car and expected it to last forever. A guy running a red light put an end to that dream. I loved the car and I loved the engine so I started looking for another one and decided I really wanted a Coupe. Well, I found that by that time the Coupes (15+ years old) had alot of miles on them. Anything under 60,000 miles was hard to come by. Most of the available cars already had over 100,000 miles. Fast forward 17 years, still looking, very few under 200,000 miles, one very nice example with 66,000 miles for big money. It was getting depressing.
Then, providence. After mentioning in the office about a CD in Chicago with 125,000 miles I had bid on, one of my coworkers (known him for 15 years) piped in that his dad had one of those cars. Years after his dad had passed the car was still in the garage at the family home. Oh yeah, did I tell you it had 42,000 miles on the clock!!!! Well I went to look at the car, bought it on the spot. That was 3-1/2 years ago. I love this car!
The car was originally purchased in Hollywood by a doctor who promptly traded it in on a new SEC. My friends dad bought his dream car and drove 250 north on the California coast to where we are today. The car never left the Central Coast and was used as a weekend ride for two people. None of the kids ever rode in the car so we are fairly certain that the back seat has never been sat in!
I have found the car to be too perfect. The doors close like a vault, the engine starts right up, the car drives down the road with that diesel purrrr. Old sheepskins were on the seats when I got the car, they had been there for 34 years. When I removed them I found the original MB tex in new condition. The paint feels like butter to the touch. The chrome is flawless. This car is in perfect original condition and that's the problem. I don't like putting miles on it and I'm always thinking about and remembering my old SD.........
The car rides on new TA radials and I have replaced a couple of hoses and the air conditioning system. The car has just been serviced. Mechanically the car is perfect.
Blemishes include a small area of the rear window is delaminating, a couple of paint chips at the fuel filler door, a very small chip on the front, a small dent in one of the vanes on the front grill and two nicks on the windshield. That's it, have not found anything else in over 3 years of polishing and pampering this car.
Have a look at the photos, ask what ever questions that may come to mind. Offers will be given the consideration (or levity) they deserve.
