1964 Mercedes-Benz 230SL RoadsterListed on behalf of the owner.Located in PORTLAND, OREGON.
This 1964 230SL has been collector-owned for many years. Euro-model. Believed 3 previous owners. West coast car for most of its life. In 1984, with approximately 100,000 miles, it received a full engine rebuild, new interior, soft top and repaint in correct Light Red color. Zenith wire wheels were fitted. Since that time it has been driven approximately 30,000 miles. Note that being a Euro model, the speedometer/odometer reads in kilometers. Apparently reset at time of rebuild/restoration. Currently 48,477 km (30,122 miles) showing on the odometer.
Today, the paint (1964 Mercedes code 519G Light Red) shows beautifully with a deep shine. Excellent panel alignment. No signs of rust or damage. Excellent original chrome and trim. Please see photos. The black leather seats are very good. No tears or splits. Light Tan carpet in good condition (was not cleaned for the photos.) Wood dash trim is in good original condition. Soft top was replaced 35 years ago. Good condition. No tears. Stored most of its life in the top well. Hardtop is in excellent condition. Original good headliner. Zenith wire wheels are in excellent condition, wrapped by newer Firestone Infinity radial tires. Original working Bosch alarm system with key lock switch in the left front fender.
Rebuilt 2.3 litre inline 6 cylinder engine runs well. 4-speed manual transmission shifts well. Brakes stop smooth and straight. Recent fully rebuilt cooling system (radiator, hoses and water pump: $2,700+). All gauges work. All lights work. Modern stereo was installed. Original Becker radio is included in the trunk, along with a set of 4 Mercedes alloy wheels, car cover, jack and original first aid kit.
PLEASE SEE PHOTOS AND VIDEO OF THE ENGINE RUNNING.
Overall, this is a great 230SL that can be enjoyed now or taken to the next level. A reserve has been placed on this car in keeping with its rarity and condition. Please bid accordingly.
