Car description |
---|
A Texas and Oklahoma car - I'm the fourth owner since 2012. This 1983 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series Coupe Turbo-Diesel was purchased new in San Antonio, Tx and was next sold to a military officer in San Antonio. Brought to Choctaw, OK I purchased the car from the third owner - a Mercedes-Benz hobbyist/collector for my son to drive to school/work locally.
Upon purchase we installed a new timing chain/tensionor (just as a preventive measure), replaced all fluids and filters and adjusted the valves. The car has a dash cover that shows an apx. 2-inch crack behind right side of instrument cluster that has not progressed (see photo). Aftermarket sealed, the glass seals/rubber do not leak but are showing their age.
NOTE:The CarFax I pulled showed accident-free (but the age of these cars limits available data.) The eBay AutoCheck shows an accident reported with original owner. However, no evidence/bondo was observed during a 2018 re-paint, and, bumpers/side moldings appear original, we've never had alignment issues and the car was rust free.
Oil has been changed at regular intervals (3000-3500 miles). All lights, gauges, signals, mirror operate normally. Driver-side rear window is not operating (e.g-window switch). The car has been recently serviced in preparation for sale and has received: new air cleaner mounts, hose returns, fluids changed (transmission/power steering, oil differential), all filters, valve adjustment, valve cover gasket, A/C was converted to 134a, tested for leaks and charged, shifter-bushings where replaced and a new drag link installed. The tires are new in late 2019 with less than 300-miles on them and front brake pads had apx. 4,000 miles on them.
Of the more than 2.7 million W123s produced - just over 100k coupes were made - and only 8,007 (aka C123s) were produced from late 1981-1985 - adding to this car's unique/aesthetic appeal.I worked on BMWs, Porsche and Mercedes as a professional mechanic in the 1980's and routinely sawthese W123's come in the shop with 250k-300k plus miles. They are extremely dependable and ride very smoothly. All to say - this Mercedes-Benz has never given us (any) mechanical issues. She's just a really solid car that's enjoyable to drive and with the new timing chain and continued regular maintenance- has many good miles ahead of her.
It has a clean Oklahoma title in the seller's name and I'm happy to provide additional photos and the complete CarFax to serious buyers. Thank you and happy bidding!NOTE: SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY PLEASE!(IT'S THE FIRST TIME I'VE EVER HAD AN ISSUE - BUT THIS IS ACTUALLY A RELISTING - AS THE WINNING BIDDER FAILED TO EVER COMMUNICATE / PAY FOR THE CAR AFTER THE AUCTION CLOSED AND WAS SUBSEQUENTLY REPORTED TO EBAY.)
