Car description

Please call Greg directly 513-200-9226 with any questions about this car.

Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this very nice 1983 Mercedes Benz 380SL in excellent condition with only 69,296 original miles. It looks spectacular, runs well, and is an awesome driver. The market on the R107 SL is absolutely red hot right now and this example is priced to sell. Very low mileage and original examples of the R107 Mercedes SL are exceptionally difficult to find and draw a huge premium in the current market. The low original mileage is also verified not only by the condition of the car, but also by the clear Ohio title, pictured in this ad, showing the mileage as "Actual."

The previous owner stated that the car has always been stored indoors, and has been lovingly cared for during his ownership. The previous owner was an avid car collector and well known classic truck collector and restorer. We actually purchased four cars from him, an Eldorado convertible, a DeVille convertible, a Lincoln Town Car, and lastly this Mercedes, which was intended for his wife to enjoy driving around town.

This 380SL comes with both the soft-top and auxiliary hardtop, and also comes with some receipts from service and maintenance over the years, which total over $3,000. This is an excellent opportunity to own a classic Mercedes that is ready to be used and enjoyed at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come. This Mercedes is finished in the absolutely beautiful and highly desirable color combination of Silver Blue Metallic over Blue interior with a Dark Blue soft-top. This is the correct and original color scheme as verified by the codes in the data sheet. The car is a "numbers matching" car with the engine number matching the number in the data card, meaning the engine in the car now is original unit installed in the car new. Please peruse all of the photos, video, option codes, and other information in this ad to get a true sense of clean and nice this 380SL really is.

As a side note, this Mercedes is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our classics come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the 380SL, just give us a call.

Exterior

The Silver Blue exterior is in stunning driver condition. As one can see in the photos, the paint has a brilliant gloss, deep shine, and smooth finish. Both doors open and shut nicely; it has that solid Mercedes touch and feels like a vault door closing. The car exhibits good body panel fit overall. The original alloy wheels are in great shape with no curb rash. The tires have 90% tread left and are correctly sized 205/70R14. The chrome and other bright-work look nice. There are no major imperfections that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. There are some very small blemishes around that are too tiny so show up in the photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. There is a small ding on the driver side of the hardtop, but as one can see in the photos it is not very noticeable. This Mercedes has no rust issues. As one can see in the many photos of the underside, this 380SL is very clean underneath. We have also included specific photos of the rockers, lower front and rear quarter panels, and other areas on the car most prone to rust to show how nice it looks.

Interior

The Blue interior of the 380SL looks absolutely fantastic. The seats are in excellent condition with no tears, rips, or excessive wear. The seat is not overly worn at all in the typical area on the driver's bolster where the driver gets in and out. The carpet is also in great shape with no holes or stains. All of the gauge faces are crisp. The original door panels look wonderful and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The Dark Blue convertible soft-top is original and does show some age. The dash is in great condition with no sun fading. This car has never been smoked in; there is no aroma of cigarettes what so ever and no burn marks. The trunk is very clean and nicely detailed with the original spare tire, and rim, jack.

The excellent condition of this original interior is a huge testament to the meticulous care and attention this Mercedes has received throughout its life.

Mechanical

This 380SL appears to be in good mechanical condition. The engine starts right away every time. It is an exceptional driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds. In the video one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to a stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that it runs well, there are no strange noises or vibrations, and the car performs quite nice overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car. It runs cool and does not overheat. The gauge shows that the engine makes great oil pressure. Also, the engine bay is clean, nicely detailed, and correct as one can see from the photos.

The horn works as do the fog lights, headlights, brights, indicators, interior lights, power windows, power locks, indicators, and wipers. The a/c works and blows cold. All of the gauges work; even the clock keeps time. This Mercedes is smooth and quick with the 3.8 liter V8 engine. The car sometimes has a high or sporadic idle. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the top down on a beautiful day.

Overall Condition

Overall, this 1983 380SL is in excellent condition and is a true bargain at our asking price. The market for the R107 body style SL Mercedes is very strong right now, particularly for low mileage examples in excellent condition in a beautiful color combination like this car. This Mercedes is a great value and will only appreciate over time. Someone could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.

Thank you for looking and please do not hesitate to email or call with any questions.
