CALLING ALL CLASSIC MERCEDES-BENZ COLLECTORS! Up for auction we have this virtual "barn-find" Mercedes 280SL that, underneath the dust, looks excellent inside, outside, and underneath! We are a Mercedes classic car specialist and have been commissioned to sell this car for the current owner. This 280SL has been family-owned for decades and up until about 2014, was the daily driver of the mom who has since passed away. Ownership was transferred to her son, who is now looking to sell the car. Between the years 1998 and 1999 this Mercedes was treated to a professional "frame-on" restoration. This Mercedes is factory original except for restored cosmetic updates like fresh paint, re-chroming of some exterior metal pieces, new leather seats (came with MB-Tex), new carpet, refinished wood trim, new dash pad, new rubber seals/hoses/bushings, and a few other items. This is a numbers matching car with low original miles. The engine, transmission, suspension, and electrical systems were brought to "like new" condition during the restoration and the car was driven extensively for many years after the restoration. However, since the car has been sitting for the past 5 years we are not going to attempt to start it. The gas is old and smelly meaning the rubber seals in the fuel system and other mechanical components could be damaged if the engine were to be started.
