Car description |

This 1976 300D is a one-family-owned gem that has been with the same family member since 1999. It has been very obviously been cared for and kept in a garage its entire life. It was originally purchased by a high end jeweler in Ithaca NY from Garage De France on April 7, 1976. The original owner was fond of it enough that he had an auxiliary fuel cell installed in the truck for long distance driving to see his daughter at college. Personally, I remember college well enough that a fuel cell seems a small expense to perhaps keep one's daughter from misbehaving too badly when away at school:). Oh, those were the days...
This 300D is astoundingly rustless and is highly optioned:
Here are more photos (My apologies, I've just realized that my photo links are not entirely viewable on a mobile device. They are viewable on a desktop or laptop though. I am working to fix this: https://www.flickr.com/photos/137333740@N06/albums/72157711044606771
And here is a resoundingly uneventful video that shows very well how this car handles the road and where the temp and oil pressure gauges sit after a short drive:https://youtu.be/5Gt6nx4Lid4
Documentation includes the original books, stamped owner's card and extensive service records. I've had an oil and filter change performed using Lubro Moly 10W-40, the good stuff. The 300D starts right up and runs extremely well, the windows, power antenna and radio work great, along with the climate controls. I haven't tried the A/C but I'd bet it needs looking into. Even though I'm assuming the odometer has rolled over, the interior is as near perfect as I can imagine and it smells just beautiful, like a showroom Mercedes from 1976. I wasn't planning to sell this MB right away, but I've embarked on an expansion project here at the shop and numerical reality has a way of prodding one is a direction necessary to suit the end goal, so here it is.
