1986 Mercedes 300GD

This Mercedes 300GD is a rare find! This was originally imported from Europe and has been my daily driver for the past year. The Mercedes G-Wagons were not imported into the US until 2002, so you will see very few of these on the road. Past owner was a car collector and service records totaling over $25,000 since 2014 have been spent to restore to current condition including engine overhaul and rebuilt transmission. I have copies of all service records.

It features the Mercedes diesel engine often known as the "Million Mile" engine because of its superior engineering and reliability. From Wikipedia: "The OM617 is considered to be one of the most reliable engines ever produced with engines often reaching over 1,000,000 km (620,000 mi) without being rebuilt and is one of the key reasons for Mercedes' popularity in North America in the 1980s, as it was powerful and reliable compared to other automotive diesels of the time. It is also a very popular choice for the use of alternative fuels, mainly straight or waste vegetable oil and biodiesel."

This exact G-wagon was featured by Road and Track as "a car you must buy instead of that boring commuter sedan." With the jump seats in the back, you can fit up to 9 people (not adults:)), so you can only imagine the fun we have had with our family. The retro plaid interior is one of a kind!

This car won't win any race and will only get going 60-70MPH on the freeway, but the smiles and pride never end:).
