When is the last time you have seen one of these pop up? If you are a fan of these cars then you know just how special this car is and how amazing it is to find one as unmolested and untouched as this one. Basically a one owner car, this car has been cared for and loved and protected during its 46 year ownership with my friend the current owner.

My friend, who was a doctor at the time, purchased the car in 1970 with only 8k miles on the odometer in Maryland. This was after the original owner traded it in because she thought the Borg Warner 4 speed automatic shifted too firmly. My friend drove the car regularly throughout the years, the car currently has 93,700 miles on it now. He always kept the car in perfect running order and had the car maintained by a Mercedes master technician. He smiles now at 85 years old when he recalls how many times he saw 140mph on the speedometer.

The car was parked in 1990 in his garage and has not been started since. Though when it was parked it was in perfect mechanical condition. We have decided not to try and get it running now and will leave task to the new owner.

BODY

The body on the car is one of the nicest I have seen in regards to rust, dents, prior repair or any imperfections. I cannot find any rust on the car anywhere. Please look at the link I have provided for additional pictures. I have tried to capture just how nice it is. The paint on the car is 90% original and will clean up VERY nicely with a good detail. The car has always been parked in a garage even when it was in regular service so it is in great condition. The trim and chrome is also in good condition, it just needs to be polished out. The car originally had a vinyl roof installed when the car was brand new. There was also a small dent/scratch over the driver side headlight. After purchasing the car he had the vinyl roof removed and the front fender replaced with a brand new OEM Mercedes front fender and had both painted to match. If I did not tell you that it had been done you could not tell it. It was done very nicely. Over all I think you will be hard pressed to find another car like this of ANY make or model with a nicer body.

INTERIOR

The interior of the car is very nice and clean. The leather interior does show some slight wear on the driver front seat but overall in amazing condition. A true testament to the quality of materials Mercedes used back in the day. The wood trim on the dash is in great shape, with no cracking, flaking or flaws. It is completely original with the original radio, carpets and door panels. Again, clean it up, put some elbow grease into it and it will be a very nice looking original interior.

DRIVETRAIN

The drivetrain is what makes this car special. Claimed to be the fastest production sedan on the market in 1969, the behemoth of a 6.3 liter engine would put this Benz in the wind if you cracked back on the throttle. My friend said it would do 140mph with ease and he did just that more than once. As of right now the car has not been started since 1990. What I can tell you is that it was in perfect running order when it was parked. My friend is fanatical about maintenance on all of his cars, and it was compounded on this car because only had it worked on by a Mercedes master tech. He viewed the mechanical fuel injection as special and more of a finely tuned precision machine and he is still emphatic about the maintenance on the mechanical belt driven fuel pump. This is the main reason we have not tried to start or roll the car over, he did not want to try it without first removing the fuel pump to have it serviced. Finding a Mercedes tech these days with knowledge of these old set ups is rare. All of that being said, we will leave the car as is and let the new owner tackle that task.
