Car description

Up for sale is my 1985 Mercedes 300SD.

It has only 86,000 miles.

This is the final year for the legendary OM617 turbo diesel engine.

I have owned a number of W126 300SDs and this is by far the nicest and the fastest.

This vehicle belonged to a German Mercedes Master Technician who worked at our local Mercedes Dealership for 49 years! This vehicle has never seen winters and has had all maintenance performed. I buy a lot of Mercedes and typically like a stack of service records. While I do not have that with this vehicle the level of maintenance is clear when you look at it and drive it.

The Champagne Metallic paint appears in excellent all original with the exception of the trunk lid which the previous owner told me was repainted after something scratched it while parked in his garage. I honestly could not tell as it was done at the MB dealership at which he worked.

The Palomino leather interior is in excellent condition. All switches and lights function as they should. Even the Vinyl on the B pillar by the seatbelts is in original untorn condition, it's the first W126 I have had like that! It could use a set of floor mats and I've had a hard time finding OEM ones. The wood veneer is excellent and the original Becker Grand Prix works perfectly along with the power antenna.

As the prior owner's health began to fail, the vehicle was driven infrequently. As such I just had a bunch of maintenance performed in preparation for the sale.

I added a new set of high quality 15" Bundt rims. They are TUV certified and look amazing and fill the wheel wells much nicer than the OEM 14" wheels. I do have the 14" wheels and they go with the car. I also added brand new set of Nokian Tires and brand new OEM lug nuts. The new wheels and tires have less than 500 miles on them.

I also addressed some common issues for the 300SD.

  • Value Adjustment
  • New Valve Cover Gasket
  • Replaced All Belts
  • Rebuilt Fuel Feed Pump and replaced gasket
  • New Fuel main and prefilter and related hoses
  • Replaced front crankshaft seal

This rust free 300SD has had the A/C converted to R134 and it blows cold out of the correct vents.

All of the vacuum locks work.

I have three MB keys (one including the leather MB Sleeve and a valet key.

While not my intention I reserve the right to end the auction early.

It is rare to see one this nice let alone with no reserve. Apologies for the interior shots, the only chance I had to take interior pix and it was raining!

Please feel free to reach out with questions and good luck in the auction!
