A 2 Owner 1965 Mercedes Benz 220SE Sunroof Coupe
This Classic Mercedes was recently revived from a near 40 year hibernation. The car had licence plates with a 1980 sticker on the vehicle when we discovered the Coupe as part of an estate sale.
Receipts indicate numerous significant repairs to fuel, brake, cooling and electrical were completed in 2007. Since our acquisition, we have cleaned the fuel system, corrected some brake issues, installed new gas shocks and have the car running and driving the way it was intended. We have created a website just for this car where you can read the complete story and view 100+ photos along with a walk-around / start-up and drive video.
Check www.1965MercedesCoupe.comor call Frank at 630-891-9502 for the story behind this unmolested mid 60's Classic.
It appears that the body was once repainted in some areas in its original Tunis Beige Metallic. We have checked over the entire body with a paint surface to metal thickness meter and do not see any evidence of body filler anywhere.
The leather interior is immaculate and seems original. The wood dash is in excellent condition with no cracks or delamination of the veneer. The original Mono Becker radio still pulls in a few stations.
Virtually all service records since original dealer delivery accompany this car including the purchase order acknowledgement from Mercedes in Germany. The service records show 95,000 of the 103,000 miles were driven in the 1st 8 years of the cars existence and all service during that time was performed by the same Mercedes dealer that arranged the sale of the car to the original owner.
The 2nd Owner had good intentions but only added 8,000 miles to the car from 1973 to 1980. From 1980 until the day we discovered the car, it remained parked in the 2nd owners garage.
We have taken this car to several Mercedes Club events and local car shows where it receives plenty of admiration. This car is ready to drive and enjoy.
This Coupe needs nothing except a new owner to drive it the way it was intended.
This is a superb unmolested driver quality vehicle with some blemishes and would be an excellent candidate if you were looking for a Coupe to restore.
