The car has been fitted with a 300SEL badge for vanity reasons, this is a 280SEL.
Car is mostly solid, the worst that I could find was here in the rear quarter panel.
The rear seats are presentable but could use some upholstery work as well
Original spare and tire iron
Still has the original Becker radio which works intermittently
Close-up shot of the imperfections in the paintwork
The extensive service records dating back to 1973.
This car looks great

I am proud to exclusively offer the eBay community this beautiful 1973 Mercedes-Benz 280SEL. This vehicle is an unrestored, two owner vehicle that was bought new here in Memphis, Tennessee over 45 years ago. We purchased it from the second owner who had owned it since 1973. It has been repainted to a classic piano black and sports the original leather interior. The odometer indicates 14,177 miles and has rolled over just once. It is powered by a 4.5-liter V8 paired with a floor-shifted automatic transmission. Cosmetically the car is far from perfect, but it runs and drives great, comes with extensive service history dating back to 1973, and has a clean Tennessee title.
The car was repainted from its original manila beige to glossy black. The paintwork done on this car was inexpensive. It looks good from 10 feet away but is not a high quality refinish. By no stretch of the imagination is this a show car, but it is a good contender for a full restoration and can be a lot of fun just the way it sits.

This is an old German car so it would come as no surprise if there are some leaking rubber hoses, but I have not noticed anything major. The 4.5L M117 V8 is a very stout engine and this one still has a lot of life left.
