Attention/ACHTUNG Here we go again!! Last time the buyer never stepped up to the plate so here she isagain for that some person who understands these S Class cars.
This is"Sabine" my W140, S420 (3rd one) ready for a new garage/home...I'm looking for a serious buyerto take this baby and give her a home...I'll send extra parts with her too that don't fitmy newer W140.Well, I've put lots of effort into this little lady overthe last 3 years. She was my second W140 and now I have my third W140 bought a few months ago (so far we've owned 25 or more model Mercedes over the years so you can tell I'm a big fan of the brand). These W140 big body Mercedes are my favorite and anything else is frankly a "KIA" compared to one of these "S Class" cars.We moved to Florida three years ago from Maryland and I bought her from a private person over by Tampa and started makingchanges to fix little things that were not working properly, like the plastic bearing in the shift linkage and defective headlight switch, Key FOB, etc. Mercedes is my "hobby" and especially these big body flagship cars, the famous W140. I'm not a mechanic as profession but havehad many Mercedes over time and do most of the work myself with the help of youtubefor the most part. The Mercedes Club Members help out often and such but google and youtube get the job done.Simply put, this would make a great second car for someone who appreciates the size and safety of these S Class Mercedes. The buyer shouldn't have much to do for the year, depending on how much theydrive, except the normal maintenance, oil, oil filter and engine air cleaners, brake pads, plus a cabin air filter and trans filter change.Contact me if you have any questions and/or you wish more photos of a particular area of the car.I'm in Ormond Beach, FL near Rt. 95 just north of Daytona Beach if that helps. Contact me: 386 263 2245 with questions.I can answer most of them I hope. The title is clear and I have it in my desk ready to go.Make me a decent offer and I'll assist you in getting it there or you can pick it up here inDaytona Beach, go for a swim, the ocean is great now.
Exterior:The body color is the original silver/gray lower panels with parchment leatherinteriorwhich is still in very good shape, could use some leather softner. There's a real wool seat cover on the driver's side that I think you'll enjoy as it's cool in the heat and warm in the little Florida cold (when we have it). Let's see: She's pretty much ready to go. The clear coat along the rails needs addressing and also the front rightfender, I got it like that and was just about to paint those areas before the New car came along. Car has the original windowsticker and has spent most of its life in Florida in a garage, now the ML350 has taken over the garage.
Standards onthis model and more info: Folding outside mirrors Electric rear view mirror Full size spare tire with all the tools including jack and folding lug wrench 6 Way electric seats with memory First Aid Kit Climate control AC/Heat Wiring harness replaced by the M-B dealer in '02 as I read on the website Bose System-fabulous stereo loudspeakers, Long wheel base S Class Backup sensors that come up out of the rear fenders sort of range finders Insulated double pane glass, makes for a very quiet, smooth ride 18" wide alloy wheels, not the standard 16" painted gray metallic Bright work is very good No dents along the sides of the car but a slight depression on the trunk under the 3rd brake light. Mechanics, some things are a repeat from above:
Synthetic 10/30 Mobil 1, always, was just changed Mann Oil filter too Crankshaft Posistion Sensor replaced two weeks ago Throttle Body repaired over a year ago Front rotors have about 10,000 on themNewer Brake pads in the front, approx 8,000 Spark plugs some 2000 miles ago Fresh wiper blades Engine Air Filters are new Cabin Air Filter too, under the glove box above the foot wellRecycle interior air filter also cleaned E. antenna mast replaced New battery with warranty, 3 months ago, AutoCraft 900 Left front tie rod ends Center steering shock Gear shifter bushing replaced Left front drag link replaced Brake Fluid flush and fill at 109K ASR Pump replaced Four Wheel alignment March '19 All four matching Good Year 245/45R x 18 tires with over 70% on themShe has low miles for the age,109K and does NOT use any oil. No wheel balance issues, she runs straight and true down the highway. a smooth ride I just drove it again yesterday and it maybe smoother than my '98 S420 that I just bought.
Yes, of course the AC is cold, these cars as you may not know were years ahead of their time starting in 1991 through 1999 and a few in 2000 with Daimler-Benz spending millions in the development of this S Class Flagship. Drive this down the road and you'll understand what German quality is even after 24 years. You cannot beat the ride or handling except maybe in a new $100,000dollar New Mercedes S-Class. The double pane glass keeps out the "loud noise" of others toan astonishing degree. Come drive it and you'll see. Yes, and this maybe one of the safest carson the road today and the handling is superb for such a large, roomy, vehicle. The "94'swere probably the "best" models in many ways as the S Class got cheaper in many ways until 1999.
Fixed/Added since I've owned Sabine:
Offset alloy 18" BBS wheels, plastic painted gray metallic Fixed soft close trunk CPS, Crankshaft Senor ne, you won't have to deal with a car that suddenly won't start until it gets cold Matching fresh tires, with very good alloy spare Clarion DVD/CD with Bluetooth, Backup Camera, Headset Jack, microphone to call from the car, remote, (hate to leave this in the car as the backup camera is musthave) New Front Rotors and Brake Pads. 6000 miles ago Soft blue lights in the foot wells Soft Close door pumps front and rear (sometimes off and on and I have the pump) And many more little things like the emergency brake release handle
Interior: The leather is still good, I'd say on a 10 scale with 10 the best it would be an 8. No check engine or lights on the instrument panel and more. The console wood is good for the year as are the door panels, front and rear, very nice. The power seats work perfectly as are the power windows and sunroof. Original owner's manual come with the car Car comes with the Remote Keyfob The remote works and I have extra keys. Yes, the elec. antenna works fine too.
In Summary:If you are looking for a low mileage, clean Mercedes this might be for you. You can contact me with question before and after the sale as I have good sources for parts and Info' but don't go to the Mercedes Dealer unless you get a second opinion from an independent shop. These are NOT too hard to maintain if you youtube and google for help. The only thing you'll have to do is change the oil and filter evey 3000 miles as I have done and put up with the right rear passenger central lock that is not closing properly (I have the extra vacuum pump).Call me with questions: 443 454 2829, Douglas deBoard
NOTE PLEASE, the car is sold "AS IS", I'm not a dealer, but I am ahugeMercedes fan....and have been to the Mercedes Main Factory in Germany 87 times, this is a private sale of my car, no partial payments.
If you are NOTserious with a "good ebay feedback score of 30 or more" please DON'T ATTEMPT TO BUY OR WASTE YOUR TIME AND MINE PLEASE!!!
PS: I've made more pictures that I can send if interested and could assist with theshipping and have the car picked up from my garage here at our home in this gated community.
