Car description

This 1980 Mercedes-Benz 280CE is a European-spec model finished in Astral Silver. Power comes from a M110 2.8L six paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The car was stored in a Texas collection for around 10 years by the previous owner, and received a repaint in the original color during that time. The odometer now shows 148k miles, with 65k miles added since the seller's purchase in 2011. During his ownership, the seats were recovered in blue MB-Tex upholstery with patterned velour inserts. A $2,300 service was completed in February 2018, which included the replacement of the fuel pump, driveline fluids, spark plugs and wires, and transmission work. No accidents or previous damage apparent, clean history.

The car retains Euro-market headlights and slimmer bumpers, and the previous owner commissioned a repaint in the original Astral Silver around ten years ago Still showing excellent. The lighting, sunroof, and power antenna are all functioning properly. Polished 14″ Bundt alloys wear not matching 215/70 tires but plenty of tread.

The interior is trimmed in gray with Zebrano wood accents, and the speedometer has been converted to mph. A Becker Grand Prix cassette radio can be found in the center stack, and the floor-shift knob is missing. The windows operate manually and there is no A/C.The seats were re-covered during the seller's ownership, and the gray MB-Tex upholstery features patterned velour center inserts as seen above.

The M110 2.8L inline-six is paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. European-market models were rated at 172 hp and 173 lb-ft of torque when new. The car was reportedly maintained by in-house mechanics under the previous owner. Service records from the seller's ownership are included with the sale. In February 2018, the car received a reported $2,300 of service which included the installation of a new fuel pump, new spark plugs and wires, a transmission service, and fresh driveline fluids including engine oil.
