Car description |
---|
This is a project car. It runs perfectly and has minimal rust. It needs to have the cabin controls restored as well as painted. I have been telling myself for years I would do it as soon as I have time and money but it seems I never have the two at the same time. I have owned the car for 30 years and parting with it will be painful.
I bought this car in Napa CA in 1988 when it was 14 years old and had 167,000 miles on it and I have owned it ever since. It was in storage for 15 years while I worked overseas. It was just moved to Ohio three years ago and is garaged every winter; only used for summer time convertible driving.
This was the second year the 350/450SL was sold in the US. It has electronic fuel injection and California emission controls and safety features.
Odometer stopped years ago at 217K. Could be at least that much more on the car since it stopped. Air conditioner and heat modulator are inoperative; heat is either off or full on. Valves were done less than 50,000 miles ago and the engine gets mileage and oil use exactly per original spec.
I almost cannot bear to part with it and would only want it to go to someone who is committed to taking good care and restoring it cosmetically.
The hard top, a hard top winch for your garage, and a homemade wheeled cart for the top are included.
