Mercedes 1993 300e
Runs Like A Demon
The long and short of this car is that it runs great, as my wife says, like a demon. Great acceleration, quiet engine.
This was my wifes daily drive to work.
We just installed a new OEM exhaust system (couple of weeks ago, $1690.00), right from the manifold, and catalytic converter up to the final resonator which was fine.
We also put on new Pirelli tires, a few weeks ago, now have just a couple hundred miles on them.
The car does not burn oil, there is small leak thatdoes cause a little loss of oil. It is so small that our mechanic cannot find it.
There has been other maintenance that should give peace of mind regarding performance:
Pioneer 6 disc CD player, excellent sound.
New alternator and battery about six months ago.
New thermostat.
New radiatorabout 2years ago.
New serpentine belt when wehad the radiator installed.
A/C serviced a few days ago and is working.
We can provide the bills for this work, if needed.
The tires are of course warrantied and we will provide the necessary paperwork.
Sun roof, moon roof, heated seats bottom and back (very rare in this model year, most have only bottom portion heated).
Lumbar support.
Rear window screen is operational.
So, why are we selling it if it runs so well?We fully intended to keep it for a while longer which is why we did the exhaust and tires, but times change, needs change, and goals get altered. and we have four cars and two drivers.
Yes, there are negatives, but all bu, mostly cosmetic as follows:
The drivers seat has tears.
The third stop light, inside on the shelf behind the rear window is missing the unit. The light works, but needs the plastic cover.
The burl has the usual cracks, and couple of chips.
The paint is very goodwith only a couple of small rust spots which we have shown in the photos.
The plastic spoiler, like many of this era is in need of replacement if you want a spoiler.
When we replaced the oil pressure sending unit, it fixed the problem of the gage intermittently, but not always.
This is the perfect car for someone looking to have immediate transportation and wants, and is willing, to devote some time to making the cosmetics right. Nonetheless, as we said at the outset, you turn the key, and off you go.
