1978 Mercedes 450SL Roadster - Very Low 63k miles-2 owner-rust free Southern Car

This beautiful 41 year old car with only 63k miles has lived all it's life in rust free Huntsville, Alabama (Southeastern United States), where it was purchased new. A rare "Ikon Gold" color with cream interior this "non-smoker" Mercedes 450SL was purchased new by a local Doctor and then later on by a local businessman. I acquired it a few months ago in an estate sale with the intent of freshening it up and selling it. I also have a 450SL and a 560SL. Does not leak any fluids. I have only put ten miles on the car. One indicator that a car is in very good condition are the way the doors close. They close like a new car, you know that sound and feel, and are in perfect alignment. Upholstery is in "like new" condition with only one, one inch, wear mark on the driver's side left top. It looks like this car is unmolested. Every part appears to be original. It has the original Becker Mexico AM/FM radio cassette and power antennae. Radio and power antennae work but cassette does not. The original clock works perfectly. Original horn, windows, lights, flashers all work. First Aid Kit is also included. All of the original manuals are also included. It has both hard and soft tops. A new soft top was just professionally installed last week with all new weather seals. The old soft top had shrunk from not being used. It looks to me as if the car has been re-painted at some stage of it's life. The car is not perfect and has a few small minor blemishes because of it's age but it is in very good condition and if treated well will bring the new owner the enjoyment of owning a new looking classic roadster with minimal upkeep. The dash has a few cracks which have been color filled. The A/C is working but the heat does not which is typical for these early Servos. You can have the original Servo serviced or upgrade to a more reliable Servo. Not too many out there in this condition and such low miles. This car is definitely in the NADA "Average Retail" category of $27,400.

List of things I have done over the last few months.

- oil and filter change

- fuel filter change

- new air filter

- replaced fuel hose at accumulator

- cleaned and inspected plugs, wires, rotor, distributor cap

- installed new front hood insulation

- new windshield wipers

- cleaned and repaired where necessary the convertible top frame

- installed new convertible top with all new weatherstripping
