I guess there is a story per se with most cars. Some seem far fetched. Some seem plausible while others. just laughable. And others well. make you sit back and feel as if you were part of the ownership evolution of the car. This 1984 Mercedes 300D. has a pretty neat story itself. "Minnie" was bought brand new by a couple in Gainesville. Fl. Matter of fact. the original dealer decal still sits on the rear of the car. She was lovingly cared for year after year as the dealer stamped service record after dealer stamped service record shows. Minnie was their pride and joy. She took this loving couple on many trips up to Highlands. NC and down to Naples and Key Biscayne. Fl. Time after time as I was told. Minnie never failed them once. In 2004. Ms. Minnie ( the owners real name ) passed away and "Minnie". the car. was passed onto her loving son. Her son kept the car garaged and stored in a climate controlled unit in Key Biscayne. Fl. where it was driven very sparingly. So little in fact that after a few years. he decided it was time for "Minnie" to find a better home and a new owner who would lovingly appreciate and take care of her as well as his mom did. So. as fate would have it. we found "Minnie" for sale in a high end. exclusive neighborhood in Palm Beach. Fl. and have taken great care and ownership of her since. From approximately 86. 00 miles when we brought her into our family until her now 96k miles and change. she has been nothing but flawless every mile. Day in and day out. albeit used little and stored in our garage. she has performed as if 30 years younger. Is she perfect? No. She does have a few minor issues. However. they are minor and would happily put "Minnie" up against most all other 84' or 85's with similar mileage - documented mileage like we have. Frankly. we would without hesitation fill her up with diesel and head out to Santa Barabara. Ca. tomorrow if need be. Mechanically. she runs that good and causes zero worry. We recently took her to Sea Island. Ga. for the week without any issues - save the following we noticed: a) both rear windows are slow to go down and even slower to go back up b) slight peeling from age of the Zebrano wood in a couple locations c) glove box latch finnicky d) cruise control worked well over but on way back. would work then not. then work again. then not - so who knows. We went through a very heavy rain storm and no leaks anywhere - trunk was bone dry too. Also. the door locks do work but. the compression variant is off it seems. The interior is in great shape and still exudes a new smell. The AC and heat work. The original Becker radio works great too. The sunroof is fantastic and the ceiling is spotless. Literally spotless. Looks new. All chrome pieces intact. Original factory glass throughout. The paint is exceptional and almost. almost looks new. I'm no mechanic or dealer by any stretch but. would guess it had some minor touch up paint once. Very tough to tell though as it truly does look exceptional. With all that being said. we have decided to put "Minnie" up for sale and hope she can find another home and owner to take the reigns and become the steward of such an amazing Mercedes Benz and keep her story alive - she truly deserves it and we feel confident the new owner will be pleasantly surprised at how good of shape she is in. And with only 96. 00 miles. shes got decades left in her. *** PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS CAR IF YOU DO NOT INTEND TO PAY AS THE FIRST BUYER SAID IT WAS JUST A "MISTAKE". HENCE. WHY THE FIRST AUCTION ENDED SO SOON. On Feb-16-15 at 11:22:41 PST. seller added the following information:I have set the RESERVE at only $5. 00. 00
