Car description

low-mileage Mercedes Benz 450 SL that is unmolested, rust-free and has had one respray in its life.

However, the 1973 was imported exactly as the designers created it, before the 1974 US bumper laws that caused the engineers to diminish the appearance of this beautiful and sleek design. So thelow number of’73 SLs are the model years most coveted by the collector. These early models have begun appreciating and are expected to do so for many years to come.

This car has both the hardtop and a beautiful navy blue soft top in great condition. The air conditioning will freeze you out at max setting and the original Blaupunkt radio still works, CD Changer in the trunk. All the original tools are in the trunk. Owner’s manuals in the glove box. This car was purchased new through an Arizona dealer directly from Mercedes Benz, and is certified for US DOT requirements (a US specifications car). The buyer specified the Euro headlights. The wheels have been updated to the 1988 560 SL chrome wheels that set off the silver paint.

Air conditioning, power windows, power steering and four-wheel power disk brakes.

This example is beautiful and in impeccable condition. All original, other than a repaint in the exact silver color it was delivered from Stuttgart to its first owner in Tucson, Arizona. After 24 years he relocated to Oklahoma where the car showed 78,000 miles on the odometer and was later repainted. The desert sands and wind had eroded the paint luster and it needed a new shine. And that shine is still evident as the paint looks almost brand new. All sheet metal is original and unblemished.

The car has always been garaged in climate controlled conditions and driven only on clear, dry days. The mileage is accurate – it has only travelled 82,000 in all those 45 years. It has been pampered and maintained meticulously by its two owners. It is a great investment car that is also fun to drive, one that can still be purchased without breaking the bank. Don’t let this one get away.
