Car description |
---|
This is a cherished, California example of the classic, most collectible W111, low-grille, 3.5 liter V8, automatic (floor shift) 280SE Coupe, one of only 800 or so exported to the U.S. I have owned the car since 1998.
Bodywork has been completely restored and repainted in the original Grau Blau Metallic (DB906 G) including new door and trunk seals (photos available).
Brand new, blue leather seat covers, seat bases, headrests, armrests, front door cards and rear shelf have just been installed, filling the car with an inviting leathery fragrance.
Original M116 3499 cc V8 engine produced 200 hp (150 kW) at 5800 rpm fitted with Bosch Jetronic fuel injection. Numbers matching automatic transmission was rebuilt just a few years ago.
Standard options include Behr Air Conditioning, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Windows and Tool Kit. An anti-theft alarm and trunk-mounted Sony CD-changer have also been installed. The Becker Europa radio is not working but is operational, some owners prefer a more modern sound system. The clock was updated with a quartz movement and keeps perfect time.
These cars appreciate steadily and are far less expensive, and more practical, than their Cabriolet stable mates. Serious investors please feel free to ask any questions.
