Car description |

1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SL retains its numbers-matching 2.8-liter fuel-injected inline-six. Finished in Anthracite Grey with Red MB-Tex interior. A repaint in original Anthracite Grey (173G) was completed around 1989. Red MB-Tex vinyl upholstery and carpets (132) are believed original. All gauges and lights are in a good working condition. The M130 2,778cc straight-six is equipped with Bosch 6-plunger fuel injection and delivered 170 hp when new.
Work performed by the previous owner included the following:
Torque converter rebuilt
Radiator and heater re-cored
New MB shift linkage bushings
New MB cable for neutral safety switch/reverse light
New MB oil cooler
New water pump and associated hoses
New fuel pump, metal fuel lines, and fuel tank filter
New sealing foam on fan/air distribution box
The lower back panel, trunk floor, metal behind both rear wheels, and trunk seal were replaced by the previous owner, who also completed the following underside updates:
Front brake pads and steel/rubber lines replaced
New Bilstein shocks all around
Four wheel alignment
Seals for front transmission pump and crankshaft replaced
New MB mounts for motor, transmission, sub-frame, and differential (center)
New MB driveshaft flex disk
New MB rear muffler
The car runs and drives great, enginge pull strong, transmission shift good, no leaks, no smoke.
Clean title in hand.
