Imported from Japan
This 1991 Mercedes-Benz 500SL AMG 6.0 wasimported to the US from Japan in 2015.
Acquired by the current owner for his collection in 2016, the car is powered by an M119 V8 that was believed to be increased in displacement by AMG.
Maintenance performed under current ownership includeda rebuild of the 4-speed automatic transmission, an A/C service, wheel alignment, oil change, engine detailing, new soft top, and some light refurbishment to some cosmetic components as detailed below.
The Black Pearl Metallic (199) finish received some paintwork to the lower cladding and bumper covers in 2016.
Styling elements unique to the AMG SL of this era includes a deeper chin spoiler, side skirts, a rear air dam, and an integrated three piece trunk spoiler.
A new soft top has been added by the current owner and is shown in the gallery below, as well as the matching hard-top.
18″ AMG alloy wheels were recently refinished by Extreme Wheel Restoration and wear Interstate Sport IXT tires.
The Becker stereo unit is inoperable and the SRS light occasionally illuminates, though all other interior electrics, controls, and instrumentation are said remain in proper working order.
Though the speedometer and tachometer are inoperable, the odometer functions properly and shows just over 59k kilometers (~37k miles).
Records included in the sale document the$3,308 rebuild of the 4-speed automatic transmission in 2016, as well as a recent front end alignment, oil change, new battery, A/C service, and detailing.
Although the vehicle is believed to be a true AMG modified SL we are unable to document whether this car is a 6.0 model.
Photos of the engine and casting stamp and AMG stamps on the Cams are included in the photos below.
The vehicle is presently located in New Jersey 07753.
Perspective buyers are welcome to come see and inspect.
