1991 Mercedes Benz 300SL roadster for sale. This is an Arizona car and just came to Illinois in the last year or two, free of rust! Cosmetically needs the clear coat fixed, front bumper is a bit messed up, fog light lens cracked, grille needs a slat and the big mercedes logo is missing. Hard top/soft top can be taken on/off with the special tool and the hydraulic control unit is functioning. Bought it as a non running project but with many other cars being projects, not enough time or money to deal with this one for me. I figured out the wiring issue that's in the ignition because of an aftermarket radio being installed years ago (it has an alpine cd changer which dates the car). It now just needs the wiring fixed which isn't a big deal and to be soldered together. The car just sits here and the battery isn't being properly charged enough for it to maintain proper voltage. It may be this reason why the instrument cluster now has 'dash flash' or maybe it was jumped improperly. Easy fix replace the 3 capacitors on the instrument cluster. The Over voltage protection relay has been changed, both are inlcluded. Hardtop is in good condition, no dents. The soft top is in great condition is a blue color. The top cylinders do leak hydraulic fluid, this can be solved by ordering new seals which are cheap but it will take you a good Sunday to carefully remove and replace the cylinder seals. Interior needs a good cleaning, hardtop wasn't put on correctly so it previously did leak but water now doesn't penetrate the cabin. The drivers seat side bolster does show wear from getting in and out. Armrest needs to be replaced as it's broken off. Transmission shifts good. Car sometimes runs in limp mode but it may just be because of the voltage. Car does run well. This car really just needs a new home with a owner who can provide the TLC. Title is clear.
