Car description |

You are bidding on a 1987 Mercedes 240GD with just 43,922 kilometers on the odometer (27,232 miles). Truck runs great, starts up on the first crank and is a blast to drive. It is rare to drive around town without receiving a few smiles, waves, thumbs up and people taking photos. This 1987 240GD is a Dutch ex-militarytruck from the Netherlands that has been modernized to make this G a little easier to live with day-to-day. I have the original military maintenance notebook, European transfer documents and a tub of extra parts. ActualVIN: WDB46131017055275
The luxuries - it has a leather steering wheel, front disc brakes, new black vinyl seats (6 passengers with the rear benches) – and that’s all the creature comforts! As the photos show, this truck is still quite spartan. There is no power-steering, no air conditioning, no air bags, no dome light, no radio, etc. It has the 2.4-liter OM616 diesel engine (72 hp). This is the engine that has received recognition for reaching the 1,000,000 mile mark without a rebuild. The transfer case and differential lockers make this one of the most capable 4X4s on the market. Power flows through the transfer case which is adjustable on the fly - 4×2 High, 4×4 High, 4×4 Low. Front and rear differentials are lockable independently with pull knobs.
It has a top of speed of about 60 mph. Oh, and getting to 60 mph takes 45-50 seconds… I have been passed by a school bus and a fully-loaded cement truck.
The paint looks great with the non-military green drag interior, but it has a very average paint job (6 or 7 out of 10 with a few imperfections) and removable soft top.
This 240GD comes with a clean and clear Florida title and can be registered in any state as it is over 25 years old and a diesel. Inspections are more than welcome. Happy to answer any questions about the truck. Please keep in mind this is not a brand-new car and there are some imperfections as with any classic auto, but overall it is a great example of a well-cared for 240GD G Wagon!
Happy to schedule an inspection - Dan 904.708.3780
