Car description |

1985 Mercedes 300 TD W123 turbodiesel wagon in black with palomino interior.
Original Owner was a Hollywood writer and producer who worked on a variety of franchises including: Star Trek: The Animated Series, Star Trek: Voyager, Original Hawaii Five-O, Spawn, Silver Surfer, and Spider-Man.
This vehicle was purchased new and serviced Valley Motor Center Mercedes-Benz dealership, see service logs in picture. The story is that this vehicle was used to travel between California to Florida often. The next long-term owner invested over $10,000 in maintenance, the hydraulic SLS (self leveling suspension) works and fluid is clear.
This is the same make and model that John Lennon bought new and was seen driving around New York with all of his equipment in the back.
Short list of things that make this wagon special:
Original owner's manual, service manual shows that this wagon was well maintained throughout its life.Mostly rust free southern California beauty.
Original tool kit, tool bag, and red cloth.
New Windshield
New sheepskin seat cover
Rare OEM oil pan skidplate
Oil pan replaced (These engines still leak oil a bit)
Rebuilt garret turbocharger
Rebuilt high output alternator
Rotella T6 Synthetic oil
Rebuilt and matched injectors installed less than a 4000 miles ago
Brand new group 49/ H7 battery
euro headlights
Converted from a California exhaust to Federal exhaust, better flowing and no trapoxidezer to worry about.
New downpipe
Backup lights and lenses recently replaced with OEM parts.
Never run vegetable oil biodiesel, although these cars can be set-up to run on it.
The not so good things:
The interior plastic on the A-Pillars has shrank a bit and is chipped in places.
The wagon was repainted about 10 years ago but the paint on the driver side fender is chipping.
Needs new spare tire, the original is just for show.
The chrome on the front bumper has a few chipsCar has a key for the door locks and a key for the ignition.
Nothing makes more sense to me than a W123 300TD. In my opinion, it's everything you might ever need in a vehicle. Durability? This thing will probably outlive most of us. Practicality? You can haul enough bricks in it to finally build that brick pizza oven in the backyard you've always been dreaming about. Frugality? It gets 25 miles per gallon no matter what you do. Comfortable? The horse hair seats will suck you right in with ease.
See what people say about this car... Google "the car that will never die" and Bloomberg. You will see a great article about these cars. They seem to be going up in value about 25% a year. To see the current value just go to Haggerty's for a valuation tool. https://www.hagerty.com/apps/valuationtools/1985-Mercedes~Benz-300TD
