Car description

1985 380 SL Convertible/roadster. Has the rare “back seat” with seat belts (think grand kids not adults) . I purchased this car a few years back with the idea of turning it into a retirement project. Unfortunately, for health reasons I am no longer physically able do so, my lose is your gain. It has a solid body, but needs interior work. (Garaged or otherwise under cover for the last several years.) The gas had lingered in there too long so I siphoned it out, and put in fresh fuel. It runs, but not very well. Blows smoke, but the more I run it the less it seems to do so. I assume this is due to old gas, and the new gas finally “taking over”. Likely needs the fuel injectors cleaned. I have been driving it – literally - around the block every now and then, but while it hasn’t stalled I have not felt comfortable driving out of the neighborhood (it hesitates). If you look at the photo of the dash you will see the RPM meter is operating, showing it running, tail pipe photo shows exhaust. Dash has a plastic “cover” on it the former owner put on it. The cloth top, while it looks almost new on the outside, needs to be stretched, as I can’t get the “screws” in the holes (maybe me). Hardtop is in very good shape, some discoloration, minor scratches /dents. (I have it off the car because otherwise I hit my head on it getting in and out, part my present mobility issues.) Leaks transmission fluid, but not too bad. Does shift reasonably. The plastic which holds the driver’s visor in place has broken and I have nylon ties holding it up. (Like most of the interior the visors need work.) The passenger side window does not roll down, maybe fuse, switch or ????. Radio (not original) antenna does not work.Photosof truck / Floorboard photos to show it is solid. The photo in the garage helps illustrate that the paint still allows objects to reflect off of it nicely, even though it hasn't been washed/waxed in a while. Mileage based on theodometer - likely somewhere around there based on the body.

Ebay provides a vehicle history report. On it I am both the Virginia and Texas owner. (Note there is a VA plate on the front and a Texas plate on the back of the car.) I am happy to take additional photos or allow you to inspect it yourself.

Buyer responsible for transport/shippin, to include arrangements I will try to work with you to the extent I can, but as I said it shouldn’t be driven out of the neighborhood on its own at this time.
