Car description |
---|
This car is a rare gem. Its not sexy but its pretty pristine for its age - 36 years old - making it the sort that turns heads and gets comments.
I am the original (lady) owner. I bought it new in 1982 from Colonial Motors in Los Angeles and have all the original purchase papers, original instruction manual and other ephemera, and all the receipts for service, repairs, replacements. This sweetie has spent most of its life in sunny Southern California and when not being driven, was in a garage. From 1982 to 1988, I drove it all the time. It made one trip cross country, from LA to New York City. From 1988 until 2010 I was living abroad most of the time so but much of the time it was in a garage at my parent's house. In 2010 a family friend used it for two and a half years, until 2012. Since then it has been in a garage and rarely driven.
Here are the specs:
· 4-speed manual transmission
· Power steering
· Air Conditioning
· Power Assisted Four Wheel Disc Brakes
· Cruise Control
· Central Locking System
· Becker Europa Stereo Cassette
· Sun Roof
· Electric Windows
Heartbreaker that it is, the time has come for my car to have a new owner, a new home. I still live abroad, my parents are gone, and my husband has convinced me its crazy, at such a distance, trying to keep a car like this.
I put a new battery in last summer, got an oil change and got a bit of tidying up done. It could stand around $1000 - $1200 being put into it. Here's what the MBZ guy said needs doing: an a/c compressor approx. $500; door auto-locking repair $300; 2 fuel filters $60-$80; a coolant flush; linkage lubricant $30; gear shift $35. This is all documented and I considered having the work done myself and then selling it but letting a new owner undertake the work is perhaps a better way.
So, if you are up for a great little vintage car, put in your bid.
I'll require an $850 deposit within 24 hours and won't tolerate any time wasters.
The photographs were taken last summer for insurance purposes and the car was in need of a wash. Its now been washed and covered and is looking good in a garage in Pasadena, California. It comes with a cover.
