Car description |
---|
Very nice solid straight early US spec car with manual transmission. Dark Tobacco Brown with Sand beige hard top. Extremely straight body with all original paint except for passenger rear quarter fender lip which had a parking lot scrape which was fixed by my body shop. The paint match is excellent. Showing 99K miles on the odometer. The car, being very original, has never been restored. As such, it shows heavy patina for its age.
The car runs strong. We added an electronic ignition, new fuel pump and filter, fresh oil. The battery is strong. The original owner kept every service record to date and I have also done so. It has a very complete history of scheduled maintenance and repairs so the first owner seriously cared for this car as the paperwork can attest.
The body is very free of rust. There are no rust bubbles in any of the fenders or rockers. The underside is nearly as clean with a solid rust free structure. The only rust, and I looked very carefully before my purchase and had it put on a lift, is the right side trunk well (typical) in the form of an enlarged deteriorated drain hole along with one small quarter sized hole on the passenger side floor just under where a passengers right knee would be. Hard to photograph. Neither is nearly as bad as some of these cars can and usually do have . The front bumper has a ding in the center. That is it for damage! The car has lived in Texas and New Mexico its entire life. The original paint shines reasonably for being so old but many places it's dull. The hard top is in good condition. The soft top's rear window is deteriorated and it has few cracks, it needs a new top. As with any old car there will be dry rubber seals, dry carpet insulation, brittle rubber and plastic. The plastic foot retainer cracked for the high beam. It needs to be glued back together or replaced and re-installed.
The car has good tires and stops great. The tachometer does not work. Original Becker Europa II. Electric antenna missing.
Interesting and original two tone gold and brown paint scheme matches the original data plate and card. Original owners packet with owner's manual, maintenance manual, parts manual etc... Is included. A few pieces have some moisture stains and damage but the owner's manual is perfect.
The car does not smoke or burn any oil, runs and drive very well.
This can be an easy restoration or just enjoy the patina. The original leather seats are nice but showing age, the dash has a hair line split in the middle in two spots, along with the console as you can see in the pictures. These are hairline, not canyon cracks. A protective dash cover is included. The map pockets are missing on the doors. I have the passenger door pocket but not the driver's side. Windows operate as they should. I have not tested the climate controls but assume the AC does not work requiring charging or? The fan works and is quiet.
Any questions welcome.
