For sale is this 1992 Mercedes 400SE SWB (Short wheelbase) model. Typically considered one of the rarest W140 S-Class models. it is the sporting enthusiast's choice due to its nimble shorter length and powerful V8 engine. Finished in a brilliant silver exterior. with an impeccably maintained black leather interior free of rips. stains. smells. etc. Features include: Automatic transmission. ice cold air conditioning. power seats/windows/door locks. heated front and rear seats. self assist door closers. moonroof. remote entry with factory alarm. Tires are less than a month old and were purchased at Discount Tire. mounted on sporty 5 spoke AMG style chrome wheels that complements the look of this car. The photos are current and show the excellent general condition of this vehicle. Mechanically sound and drives smooth. with crisp shifts of the transmission and plenty of power. I would not hesitate to take it on a road trip tomorrow. Mercedes enthusiast owned for the past three years. This is a rust free example. Mileage is actual miles @ 170K. title is clean and clear. Exterior: 9/10 The silver paint is glossy. with zero oxidation and always waxed/garaged. A few clearcoat level surface scratches and parking lot dings can be found if you look hard. but nothing that immediately stands out. No dents to speak of. The grey plastic cladding has some very minor wear on the lower sections. Again. very minor. mostly caused by rock chips. There is a roughly 2. 5 inch scratch on the front lower bumper (driver's side-circled in red in the last photo). as well as a few pencil eraser sized paint flaws (rock chips) near the right headlamp. These are the only blemishes worth noting. Absolutely no rust on the body or frame. All headlights/tail lights. turn signal lamps function properly. Chrome wheels are in good condition. mounted on brand new tires. Interior 9. 5/10 The black leather interior is supple. regularly conditioned. and free of rips. Very minor surface-level scuffing can be found on the driver's seat bolster. but I'm nitpicking here. The carpet is free of stains. The wood trim is near perfect. with only the center wood panel (near window switches) showing minor stress cracks. Headliner is excellent. All four power windows function properly. as does the moonroof. All interior lights work. Heated front and rear seats work. Glass has a very light factory tint with no bubbling or peeling. Windshield has a few rock chips but no cracks. There is an aftermarket Pioneer stereo system installed (by previous owner). The power seats work. with the exception of the power operated front headrests (common issue on older Mercedes)Mechanical condition 9/10 The engine does not smoke. leak. consume oil. etc. It does not overheat. and the cooling system operates as it should. Transmission shifts like a Mercedes should- with crisp. solid shifts and no slipping. Air conditioning is cold. heat is hot. All four front HVAC vents function properly. as do the rear vents. Recent maintenance includes: New carrier bearing for the driveshaft. Recent oil change and air filters. It drives smooth on the highway. and is mechanically sound. I had my mechanic look over the vehicle for a pre-sale inspection. and he did not note anything that requires attention. You could drive from Arizona to New York tomorrow with confidence. The only deficiencies to note: Rear driver's side coil spring sometimes emits a squeak when going over a bump when the ambient temperature is cold. This is merely an audible nuisance. and only does so on occasion. not all the time. Also. the front brakes occasionally squeak on hard stops. I've had the pads and rotors inspected. there is plenty of pad remaining. and the rotors are not warped (the car stops smooth and straight). Lastly. the aftermarket Pioneer stereo unit will probably need to be replaced. as it does not appear to be putting out good sound through the speakers (could be loose stereo wiring connections to the speakers. but I've always found this head unit to be non-intuitive to operate; thus it would be a great time to update to a more user-friendly unit). This is a nice example of a 22 year old vehicle. It shows as well in person as it does in the photos. I've nitpicked nearly every detail that a prospective buyer would find of importance. but potential buyers should have realistic expectations of normal wear and tear from mileage and age. I feel you will be pleased in person with the car. Should you have any further questions. please contact me directly at makoshark83@gmail. com or via call/text at 6024022958.
