Car description

Up for bid is a 1985 Mercedes 380sl convertible.

The 3.8 Engine and automatic transmission were removed. The engine was torn down to the short block, the heads had a complete valve job with new seals and were resurfaced. The engine was cleaned and reassembled with all new seals and gaskets, new double row timing chain upper sprockets and new chain guides. The oil pump chain and guides were also replaced. The transmission front seal was replaced and the transmission and engine were reinstalled in the car with new water pump and thermostat. The transmission mount was replaced and driveshaft and linkage attached. That's where the project stopped. To finish the car the upper intake and injectors need to be installed along with the radiator, alternator, AC etc. The exhaust manifolds are on the engine but the exhaust needs to be attached. I have the complete system. The engine bay was also cleaned before installation.

The body has one rust area on the passenger side jack point. The rest of the body is solid and the top doesn't leak. The interior is average and the dash has one small crack. Tires have 75% tread left, as well as the brake pads.

All original parts are included to complete this restoration.

This was a running and driving car until the previous owner had a new timing chain installed. The chain was installed two teeth off on the driver's side and bent 4 valves. They owned the car for twenty years prior to that and it was always maintained. The car is sold as is where is and with a CT bill of sale. CT doesn't require titles on cars over 20 years old so check with your local DMV.

A nonrefundable deposit of $250 is required within 24 hours of auction's end via PayPal. The balance to be paid by wire transfer or cash before car leaves. A transport can come right to the car for pick up. Thanks for bidding.
