Nice stock, and un-molested 1980 Mercedes 230G
Original 2.3 4 cylinder M115 engine and 4-speed manual transmission.
Runs and drives great, can be confidently driven anywhere. No oil leaks and no smoke. The interior is in excellent condition.
The transmission shifts well and the clutch works smoothly with no slipping or vibrations. The transfer case works well in all ranges.
Everything works except the windshield washer and the fuel gauge. I replaced the sending unit but there appears to be a problem with the gauge itself. The radio turns on but will only play static.
Original paint which still has a nice shine and looks presentable. There are a few dents in the body, mainly on the passenger door, and rust under the tail lights as well as one tiny hole in the driver's floor board.
The tires are like new Firestone Winterforce with very few miles on them. The wheels were powder-coated and are in excellent condition.
Much mechanical work has been performed within the last 6 months:
valve clearance adjustment
new valve stem seals
compression test - all cylinders within specifications
new brake hoses front and rear
rebuilt front calipers
new rear wheel cylinders
new brake pads and shoes
new proportioning valve
rebuilt original carburetor
replaced all front wheel bearings, CV joints, kingpin bearings, steering ball seals and gaskets
new fuel pump
new heater blower motor
new koni shocks
shifter bushings replaced
new tie rodreplaced gas tank straps and shield
