Car description

1992 Mercedes Benz SL500 93,428 Miles Blue-Black Metallic / Gray Leather Clean Carfax VIN#: WDBFA66E7NF052645 Paint: Blue-Black Metallic (199U, 199O) Interior: Gray Leather (278A) Evolve Motors & Chicago Car Club are pleased to present this 1992 Mercedes Benz SL500! We purchased this 1992 SL500 from a woman in Michigan who was selling the car following the recent passing of her husband, who had driven the car daily. The car's Carfax indicates that it was sold new in Southern California, changing hands a few times within California before being sold to Michigan in 2005. As it sits, the car is in seriously impressive condition considering that it has covered nearly 100k miles. The car shows extremely well inside, out, and underneath. Exterior: - Body is excellent. Absolutely no dings or dents. - Blue-Black Metallic paint shows very well. It's a gorgeous color, similar to a graphite grey. No signs of age other than a few small blemishes. No clear coat aging or anything of the sort, the car was clearly taken care of. The only thing we can really disagree with on the car is the choice of wheels. Other than that, this is a seriously handsome car. - Blemishes on the car are all minor. Blemishes include very minor chipping/scuffing on the lower front end, a touched-up scratch on the bottom the driver's rear quarter (just behind the rear wheel), a light scratch ahead of the driver's rear wheel, and another scratch just behind the passenger door handle, on the rear quarter (this is the most noticeable blemish on the car). There is also a couple touched-up scratches on the removable hardtop. None of these imperfections are glaring by any means. - Polished wheels shine nice and bright, but do show quite a bit of pitting inside. - Black soft top is in nice shape. Looks to have been seldom used, as the car has a removable hardtop. - Windshield has a small, U-shaped crack on lower passenger side. - Trim pieces are excellent all around. - Weatherstripping is in great shape Interior: - Gray leather seats are in great shape and are extremely comfortable. Driver's outer bolster shows some slight wear, and there is a very light scratch on the passenger seat bottom. Excellent condition overall. - Gray carpeting is in fantastic shape, with no tears, stains, or discoloring. Original MB floormats will come with the car as well. - Dash is excellent. No cracks, no damage. - "Wood" panel around the gear lever has a hairline crack at the bottom left corner. - Forwardmost part of center console armrest has a broken-off plastic piece - Gauges are all functional. Odometer reads 93,428. - Radio is functional and is an aftermarket unit, an Eclipse CD3403. - Powered systems are all functional: windows, seat adjusts, power top release, roll bar deploy, defrost, climate control. Air conditioning blows cold. The controls for the blower seem to be a bit temperamental; sometimes it responds to your inputs, other times it likes to stay stuck on automatic climate control. When that does happen, it still allows you to select a temperature. Under the Hood / Underbody: - Tires are extremely close to new. DOT number indicates they were made in 2015. - Car is in exceptional condition underneath. Only light surface rust, absolutely nothing through or even close to it. No leaks. No damage. - Car runs and drives very well. Hard to believe it's 25 years old now. The car tracks straight, doesn't hesitate under hard acceleration, brakes straight and effectively. It's a confidence-inspiring driver. - Since taking possession of the car we have had to do very little but drive the car. We inspected the car, topped up fluids, changed the oil, and hit the road. - Original owners manual with go with the car, as will the spare, tool kit, and hardtop stand. Minimal service history documentation. - Engine bay is extremely clean and well presented. Many factory stickers are still visible. Foam lining appears to have been replaced, as it's in excellent shape. For more information or to discuss purchasing, please reach out to Jake at Evolve Motors / Chicago Car Club at 773-303-6122.
