Beautiful One Owner 1979 Mercedes Benz 450SL
This 1979 Mercedes Benz 450SL is the real deal!!! A true one owner Mercedes Benz 450SL!!! It has a great story from new!!! This 450SL belonged to a childhood friend of the founder of the Ray Skillman Dealership Group here in Indianapolis! Our owner Ray Skillman bought this car from his friend because his friend was retired and moving to Europe. He was a lifetime Delta Airline pilot. He purchased the car brand new in 1979 and took European delivery of it. The car is an exceptional original example and as you look at it closely you can see it is the real thing, a true survivor! An unmolested non-rusty car that spent it's life in the car friendly states of Georgia, Florida, California and Washington. He was stationed in all those places throughout his career and the 450SL was always with him.
This car has all it's original documentation including the bill of sale, all the factory European delivery paperwork, the owners data plate, extra keys, all the original books and all the service stamps,( It never missed a scheduled service in the service booklet ) and some of the service hard copies from brand new!!! It has good Michelin tires and it runs and drives out 100%!!! The blower fan does not work so the controller probably needs replacing. The chrome, stainless, aluminum trim, paint and rubber are all in excellent condition! You can tell when you look the car over that it was always a garage queen! All the interior including seats, carpets, wood, trim and dash are all exceptional! The dash has no cracks or splits. The underside of the car is extremely clean and rust free!!!
It is finished in beautiful Milan Brown with brown MB Tex interior. It has a beautiful brown convertible top that still looks new. The paint and all the exterior and the entirety of the interior are exceptional and do not need anything to show the car proudly!!!! The engine compartment is all original and in extremely good original condition. It is not all corroded like many of these are now! It does look like the remainder of the original foam style hood pad and it does need replacing however, a very easy thing to do. It has the proper spare tire, jack, first aid kit and safety markers but it is missing the factory tool kit.
If you are looking for a really really nice original 450SL that is fully documented and correct and has a great history then you will be hard pressed to find a more honest example!!!
