Car description

For sale is a 1983 Mercedes-Benz 300CD Turbo Diesel Coupe in Petrol Blue Green Metallic with a Tan Leather Interior. It has Power Steering, Power Windows, Power Sunroof, and Door locks. My intentions with the vehicle were to completely restore it, considering it only has 142,000 Miles. As you may or may not know, these coupes are getting harder to find in good shape with little to no rust. This particular model, the W123 Chassis, between 1981-85 produced only 8,007 Turbo Diesel Coupes! I bought the vehicle from a man that lived out in West Chester Pennsylvania and this was his mothers car that she drove. The clear coat on the roof started to peel and fade slightly, so after I purchased the car I had it sent right to Anastasia's Auto Body located here in Philadelphia. Bob has been in business for a very long time and he does fantastic work. I had him respray the entire top of the car from the moldings up, as well as re-clear and blend. Everything was removed, the emblems, grill, mirrors, moldings etc and all new clips were installed that hold the moldings to the vehicle. The paint work came out fantastic. Next I sent the vehicle off to Elkins Park Auto Works here in the philadelphia area to fix a few things that I noticed right away would need some attention. Larry took the time to drive the vehicle and go over everything to see exactly what was needed to bring the car back up to snuff. An Oil change was done, Alignment, Back lighting on the gauge cluster was repaired, a door lock vacuum line, as well as an overall review and inspection of the car to ensure there was not anything major that needed further attention. This is when unfortunately some personal matters came up, and i could not continue to spend the kind of money needed to bring this car back up to 100% where it deserves to be.

I will be 100% transparent with the vehicle, and let you know everything and anything I can to ensure you get exactly what is described here and in the pictures. I will also provide for you (3) Locations where you can have a Pre Purchase Inspection performed located in the Philadelphia Area if you so choose to do so.

There are a few things I would like to go over and point out that will need some further attention. The rear driver side window will only go about halfway down, as it is a common problem for the metal regulator track in these older cars to bend and need replacement. All other windows including the sun roof open and close as they should.

The air conditioning does not work, however the air that does come out and the heat blow very strong.

The wood trim surrounding the climate control as well as the lower unit will need to be replaced for ascetic purposes. Obviously this does not effect anything mechanical.

The stock radio works great, however the power antenna will not go up or down. I was told that this is a simple motor replacement.

The trim pieces around the bottom of the driver seat have come off and will need to be replaced. These are also found on eBay for not much $$.

The driver side floor mat will need to be replaced, as there is a black one in there currently to protect the carpeting.

The first aid kit located on the rear deck of the car under the back windshield is there, however the cover for it has broken due to being subjected to heat and will need to be replaced. Roughly $80.00 currently on Ebay.

The alignment on the car was performed and the overall steering was improved, however it is still slightly off center. I was told by Larry at Elkins Park Auto Works that in order to bring it back up to 100% it would require a new steering rack. I will say that the car still does drive perfectly fine, this is just something i was considering to replace if I had the funds to do so.

The gas gauge seems to work when it wants, and I was also told by Larry that this is a simple sending unit located in the gas tank. Roughly a $120 Fix.

There are a few small areas of rust that are pointed out in the pictures along with a couple dings here and there. If for whatever reason you would like more in depth pictures of a certain area, please feel free to ask and I will accommodate accordingly.

This car is an absolute pleasure to drive, and I have gotten compliments everywhere I take it. I have not driven this car without someone stopping me and asking me about it or if I would be willing to sell it. They are truly getting more and more rare, and a lot have been destroyed due to negligence, rust, and poor upkeep. This color combination is one of the best looking on any Mercedes in my opinion. The Green Exterior and the Tan leather compliment one another extremely well. The seats have not lost any of their durability and are extremely comfortable to sit in. You feel like floating on a cloud driving down the street. This era of Mercedes is one of the last to have all suspension parts isolated by rubber bushings, making the ride extremely comfortable. There are 4 brand new Michelin Defender P205/70/R14 Tires installed as well. Below are the 3 Mechanic Shops/Dealerships where you can take the vehicle for a pre purchase inspection, however if you would like to take it else where that is your call.
