Car description

Here is one Vintage Classic Mercedes-Benz 240D non-turbo. with the most durable and easy starting 4-cylinder Diesel engine ever made up to that time. for both the extreme Safety and Economy/Long Lasting Minded Individual. while also being a Highly Discriminating buyer with an Eye for Quality and Detail! Here is a Dry/Always Garaged Californian car it's whole life(evident by the very nice. non-cloudy and clear anodized aluminum window surround trims which get easily burned in the Southern California's Hot Sunshine. dull and faded when in the sun) until I bought it in March of 2013 here on eBay off of a classic car broker who bought it from the estate of the 2nd owner in San Francisco after being stored for many years. He did a real comprehensive Cosmetic restoration including full high level re-paint. most rubber trim and some mechanical repairs back to and in some cases beyond the original equipment level! He also replaced both rear axles and Rear muffler with NOS German original type replacements! Easy starting. smooth shifting. peppy. strong 4 wheel-disc braking for even and safe stopping and responsive handling. with a great heater and air conditioning recent service with R134 update! Upon my purchase/winning bid of $6. 00. 00 I sent the eBay seller another $750. 00 to have his local Mercedes Benz Specialist change all crankcase. transmission and rear axle differential Oil/fluids/Filter and also do an update/recharge of the A/C system with R-134. a new Evaporator Expansion Valve. Re-manufactured Compressor/Clutch. and Re-manufactured the A/C Freon Hoses! Upon the car being received off the transporting truck in La Porte. Indiana(60 miles from my home). by my good friend Bob at Dorman Restorations. did an early assement and decided that it needed a valve adjustment and gasket. a Brand New Heavy Duty Interstate Battery. all Fuel Filters including main filter. pre-filter and tank screen filter) and an injector valve cleaning treatment. update of better style glow plus with the newer design "Fast Glow" and Relay. Replacement of the R/H Front Door Seal(wind noise). installed a R/H Door Outside Mirror(optional from Mercedes). Next stop was to Mike Tooth at Quality Import Service. Elkhart. Indiana (7 miles from my home) for 2 or 3 visits to address mechanical issues that they diagnosed to make this car function and perform as new or perfect as possible. New motor mounts. A Cooling system flush. New turn-Signal switch. an Injection Pump Adjustment. new over-flow hoses and caps. a fuze box service and A/C/ rain water drain cleaning on the first trip and later when I could afford it. it received a new German FAG Clutch Slave and new FAG Clutch Master Cylinder replacement along with fresh fluid. and also various new dash bulbs and a dash lightening rheostat. We are now on our way to new perfection in a 35+ year old Mercedes Benz Classic Diesel! Now we are dependably getting well over 35 around town and close to 45 on the highway(oh by the way this car has the low ratio "Hi-Way-Flyer" rear end installed and comes with Brand New White-Wall tires installed!! I have only put less than 1000 pleasurable miles on this. but due to my aging hips and knees. I have decided that a 300D Turbo-Diesel Automatic Transmission may be my next ticket to comfort and ease in my old age! My Buy-it-Now price is $1250. 00 less than my total investment including all service and repairs. This is a fully sorted updated early W123 diesel. that possibly needs nothing else. but driver seat cushions in the next few years. The rear seat is a Euro Blue Cloth seat with head-rests. but I have the OE MB-Tex rear seat needing re-covering That is included with this auction sale! I Believe that the only day this car has even seen snow is the day these photos were taken and the only accident damage was a a left-front parking lot miss-hap back in the 1980's. This vehicle is being Sold "As-Is" with NO warranty stated or implied. and we welcome your inspection or mechanical over-view prior to auction end. All questions can be directed to answering machine/voice mail at 574-875-5047 (home) or 574-849-1815 (cell) and we will try to get right back to you as soon as we can. These W123 Chassis Cars may be the last Great Mercedes Generation highly durable and dependable without many extra bells or whistles. but capable of over 500. 00 to 1. 00. 00 miles. with tons of parts availability/accessibility at very reasonable pricing. with safety and less plastic and cost cutting found on the later W124 and W210 chassis models! Still a favored choice 0f many Taxi operators the world over especially in Europe. the Middle-East. the Balkans and most other ex-Soviet countries. Please only serious bidder's as your bid is a contract that you are able. willing. allowed to purchase with funding already secured and available. I can store up to 2 weeks after the close of this auction and I request you $500. 00 deposit with-in the first 48 hours after you are a winner. This is a Great Example of a Great Mercedes-Benz Models and you will not regret owning it.
